So currently I have a 2000 Stage 3 S4 that I have been daily driving for the past year and it has been great. I'm debating if I want to buy/trade for a 2jzgte swapped SC/IS/GS300 to act as my daily driver and I'm wondering if anyone in the area has any of these that could chime in.

How are these cars on comfort, maintenance, gas mileage, etc etc. Are these cars smog legal in CA, or because of the swapped engine, they will not pass smog? The Stage 3 S4 is smog legal and I do not want the hassle of having to have another "off-road" car as my daily driver.

The 2jzgte was only available in US market Supras from 1993-1998. So the only smog legal cars would be:

SC300 models up to 1998.
GS300 models up to 1998.

IS300 (2001-05) never smog legal.
