Since i saw so many people posting in the Norcal spotted thread, i figured i'd make the SJSU thread since i got admitted and plan on attending next fall.

Just a few curious questions, what's the best hall to dorm and are the fees for housing are per person or per room?

i dont know what the "best" one is. but basically u get what u pay for. i think the "bricks" is one of the cheaper ones.

I never dormed too... too poor I rented a room from a house.

The red brick ones near the Event Center is pretty old. So my guess would be that it would be the cheaper option. My niece dormed in that so I guess it's the cheaper option.

Ahh! I'm stuck on which housing to pick. The site says it's mandatory to dorm there on my first year cause i live in SF and i'm out of the 30 mile radius. I'm probably gonna go for a major in computer science or computer engineering. I need to finish my Cisco CCNA courses and get certified, then i could hopefully get a internship or something while attending school.

Hey .. I could probably help you with that. I stayed in the bricks (Hoover Hall) to be exact. I'm actually from SF lol.. (lincoln high).

I'm pretty sure that you dont have to dorm there if you dont want to your first year since the schools mostly a commuter school. I would reccomend living in the bricks if you want to meet tons of people. You dont meet as many people living in Joe West..and you really dont meet anyone else in the Campus Village besides your apartment or suite mates.
Currently I live in an apartment.. its much better but if your roommates are like any college students. you'll never see your sink again lol

I hear their building a new student union, not too sure when that will be done. I never stayed in the dorms but i did go visit friends in the new dorms they built not too long ago their really nice hotel style. If you can afford it you should at least live on campus for a year so you can make friends and later be able to share an apartment with someone you meet your first year around campus.

I think the "Bricks" is the cheaper option, and Campus Village which is the newer dorm on the corner of 10th and San Salvador, is more expensive.

^^ Whoa graduated in 09 also in Business Admin. Finance and Management though.

Never lived in the dorms but was in campus village a lot. Campus village just opened when I went there. Lived in apartments all 4 years with my cousin. Never knew it was mandatory to live there as I'm from SF also.

But definitely choose the bricks to meet people unless you are a neat person who needs your own quiet time.

If you live in the dorms, at least you don't have to worry about the parking problem..
