Default **Reminder - Pay renewal registration on time**

Just wanted to give everyone a reminder to pay their registration renewal ON TIME.

I just got bent over backwards and shafted by CA DMV.

Never received my renewal registration in the mail for some reason. Just realized i bought my car in March and its April and i havnt paid for it yet. So i went online to go try and pay for it. Apparently since its late.. im ineligible to pay online.. so now i need to go into the branch.

But they are nice enough to give you a payment estimator with ur plate and VIN number...

Current Registration: 31.00
Current California Highway Patrol: 23.00
Current Vehicle License Fee: 500.00
Current County Service Authority for Freeway Emergencies Fee: 1.00

Current Smog High Polluter Repair Fee: 4.00

i guess when your past 30 days late.. u get to pay a nice 60% penalty fee.

Reason 974 not to live in California...

Here you pay a 1% penalty per month late on your registration fees... which are like 40 bucks or something... so the "penalty" is like .40 cents a month.

Absolutely amazing. Next thing you know they'll be taxing our gasoline, raising the bridge tolls, increasing the sales tax, adding fees to recycle our used car parts, etc. Wait... damn.

Second that bro! The CA government got us into this mess with their ignorance in budgeting, and they want us to get them out of this mess. Hell no! It sucks that we're paying up the @ss in taxes and we need to pay up more.

Jerry Brown should increase the income tax for the politicians that got us into this mess. Or hold the government accountable for this mess instead us punishing the tax payer for their mistake.

Sorry to hear about that ISCjonny. The state is broke so they added a whole bunch of penalty increases. Consider it a save CA fee instead of a late fee.

ISCjonny:

Why are you ineligible to pay online? I thought even with smog check required you can still pay online?

I think if you miss your reg. deadline you no longer qualify to pay online. OP can confirm this is what happened to him.

Sorry to hear this happened bro; i agree with everyone else, and would veto a raise in taxes.

yea.. seriously.. welcome to Californ-i-am a broke *** state.

I mean.. yea ok.. my fault i should have kept on top of things and paid on time.. if im a month late.. ok charge me a late fee.. like $30 or even $100.. but to tax you 60% is ridiculous.

i guess the baby just gotta get use to wearing newspapers instead of pampers.. LOL.
