4. what happens if it rains, does the tape hold?
5. how long does it take to tape everything up on average?
6. and tape top down right with overlaps between each pass?

That picture was taken on the day we bought the car in LA and I drove it home after taping.

No clear bra at this point so Blue tape was a must for Hwy 5.

1. how many rolls do you need and what size?
Ans. 1 roll should be enough for the round trip. 1 1/2" wide not too narrow not too wide.

2. how many layers do you need? 1 or 2? 3?
Ans. 1

3. tape shouldn't ruin wax or anything right?
Ans. That's why you use Blue tape; standard white tape would be trouble.

4. what happens if it rains, does the tape hold?
Ans. Should be fine

5. how long does it take to tape everything up on average?
Ans. The more time the neater the job. It pays to be neat as the tape will have less tendency to peel off in the wind. 30 min

6. and tape top down right with overlaps between each pass?[/
Ans. Go from top to bottom. Never bottom up. Always overlap a bit. Try to tape straight without curving to prevent wrinkles.

Even with clear bra, the tape job can be worth it since it is a lot more work to clear off bug splat then to remove the tape. Rock chip prevention is just an added benefit.

^ Thanks Glen

The more I've been thinking about tape the more I'm curious what the entire car would look like taped up. Dont be shocked if I show up at the next meet all taped up, just to be different

Wow you going to wax and then tape over the wax???

OK I got my Drag Radials on.

We’re ready to rock and roll.

All those who have signed up for the caravan are now locked and loaded.
