there are tons of apartments in SJ, depending on your budget. Since I love driving I would say drive it. Just get it painter-taped GOOD and save the 1K for mods

SJ is a sick place to move too! I've lived in the bay area 22 years and just started going to the SJ area...and my god its huge! It feels like you can drive 10miles in all directions and still be in SJ lol

I've been looking too, and the prices are surprisingly higher than the Seattle area.

Ii would drive might meet some interesting characters along the way. Some of the funniest/strangest people i have seen are from long road trips. Its worth any extra costs just to go see what you might miss flying over it.
