Road Trip suggestion from Bay Area?
Hi, we are bored and wanted to get on the road a bit, Vancouver was one possibility but it's seems too far for now (940 miles, err)
Maybe distance wise can go as far as portland (620 mi) or salt lake city (720 mi) might be max
last year we went to the real norcal to see the redwoods and then crater lake and it was awesome.
Anyway if you have any ideas on destinations, let me know. LA and LV doesn't count. Doesn't need to be that far, happy to keep it under 400 like mammoth lakes or even somewhere around Tahoe.

My suggestion which I want to do as well. Take a road trip from sf to socal taking highway 1. Then make half day to full day stops along the way. Whenever I drive to socal I take 5 just to get there fast but we forget about what we have to see along the way taking a different route. Might take a week to go to LA and back taking this route but it's a great road.

My next road trip is going to be Salt Lake City. If you're into beautiful scenery, you can visit Bryce Canyon and Arches National Park.
Grand Canyon is 11 hours of driving. You can also hit Hoover Dam, Vegas, and Antelope Canyon on the way there.
And there's Portland. Then 3 more hours north you get Seattle. Then 2.5 hours more north you get your original destination, Vancouver!

There's a run down old town called Curtin, up the 5 in Oregon. It was originally a sawmill town. It's believed to be haunted, with ghosts that walk the streets (even in daylight). I've stopped through there. Abandoned circus there too. Gives you the goosebumps walking around at dusk. Go check it out.
