Possible relocation to SF
Hello NorCal!
I might be relocating to SF and working downtown on Pine and Battery st.
Where would you guys/gals recommend to live (will be renting) that is within a 20 mile radius and not crazy expensive and reasonably safe? I am married with no kids and will have two cars there.
Traffic doesn't really scare me after dealing with LA traffic. I appreciate any advise, information you can give!

Good luck finding a reasonable place to rent anywhere in the bay area (especially in or near SF). We are renting a 2BR, townhouse with 2 detached car garages for $2,950 with nothing included. This is in the Foster City (pretty much in the middle of the Peninsula.
I hope you guys r getting a big raise to compensate for the high cost of living.
Good luck with the move.

Thank you for all the info so far! Yes, it will be quite a jump in pay but still don't want to pay a lot for an apt. I live in Marina del Rey now, and it is pretty expensive. I have been researching the trans system up there, and it looks pretty good! So, I decided to expand my search out and am actually thinking San Jose as I will not be driving to work. I am thinking it would take about 1-1.5hrs from there by baby bullet and BART. I was also looking at Daly City, but the fog kind of shut that down. I need some sun!

San Jose can be expensive as well, I mean it's Silicon Vallley, so all employees at Google, Facebook, Apple and many other Hi-tech firms want to live near work and they have the money and can afford an upscale residence. The middle class is disappearing in many parts of the bay, so you see a ton of new hi end condos and fancy apartments.
San Jose the weather is wayyy better than SF. Basically the closer to SF the cooler the weather.
You would want to take the Caltrain into the city which a lot of people do, and you should be able to find decent apartments near the stations as well,.

Nice to know, thank you! My wife works for a big apartment leasing company as a leasing specialist and they have a property in SJ. So she might be able to transfer there and we would get a rental discount to live there. Perfect world scenario though. How is the Richmond area?
