Stereo area smelled like smoke, lost power
My friend was tinkering with my 2015 nx 200t stereo because the nav wasn’t working and we thought the sd card was jammed too far back. Long story short, later my car started smelling like burned plastic and all electric components failed. Can’t turn radio on, no Bluetooth, navigation, screen is blank, USB ports don’t work. Only thing that works is backup cam. I’ve spent hours researching- anyone have any ideas? If it’s the power cord from the stereo to the main power supply, how do I find the part number and is it even for sale? I gather it’s a gold colored ribbon? The owners manual won’t even tell me what kind of audio system I have. If I have to replace the entire stereo is there an alternative? Thousands of $ aren’t in my budget right now. Thank you so much.

If there was a short, check the radio fuse but if you smell burning, odds are the headunit is toast. 2015-2017 as far as I know only had one audio system unless you had no navigation (fairly rare), I believe 2020+ you could get ML as an upgrade over the standard premium sound.
Consider used headunits if budget is an issue but I do not know if they have security codes or need to be coded.
I'm really curious what you two exactly did, I have taken my headunit out tons of times while I hacked it up for carplay and beatsonic front camera add-on. I also have modified the audio system heavily with no issues.
