Default Front brakes clicking in reverse

Hi guys,

I am sure some of you experienced this and I only need another opinion...
I recently changed my brake rotors front and back but during the procedure I made the mistake to use the clips that came with the pads (not so good, doesn't matter the brand).
The old clips (OEM) were tossed in the garbage and lost now...
My mechanic told me I made a terrible mistake by not keeping those and using them along with the new pads.
Now, every time the vehicle has been driven for a minimum of 10 mins forward, when I reverse braking, I can hear a click coming from the front brakes.
It's annoying to say the least. I am sure there is no danger for the stopping power, but it annoys me to the point of intending to purchase a (good) clip kit off of Amazon and replacing those I have.
Would you care to comment on this? Either to confirm the clicking is coming from the pads clips and/or what should I replace those with?
I am intending to purchase the only kit I can find (Amazon Canada) here:
Amazon Amazon

Thanks!

This clicking sound in reverse is typical for Toyota-Lexus. It is annoying but nothing to worry about. My NX has Lexus brakes and it clicks as well. And yes, indeed clicking comes from pads adjusting when vehicle changes direction and brakes are applied. Lubricate brakes (just not braking surfaces, of course) and it will temporarily reduce or remove this sound.

Clicking is normal because one of each brake pad's "ears" has a metal spring to take up slack during installation. If correctly installed, it clicks when you brake while reversing, since the rotor ends up dragging the pad a little to eliminate the slack and sort of hit the caliper. If both pads on each caliper are incorrectly switched around, they end up clicking when you brake while moving forward.

Hated that clicking sound when reversing…now that I recently changed my rotors and pads(aftermarket) I don’t have the embarrassing sound anymore!

No clue why the oem pads were clicking to begin with…horrible
