What is this thing in my dash????
Hello,
While replacing my OEM head unit with a chinese 10.5 touch screen in my first gen 2015 lexus nx200t, I found this device glued to my dash interiors...
What the heck is this thing?
Is it a gps transponder? (my first thought)
If not, what is it?

I took another look today at that thing...
There are absolutely no markings or serial numbers on it. I am pretty sure it's a transponder though.
I will try taking it out of the car and see what happens...

It's probably nothing to worry about. Perhaps a monitor that is transmitting all sounds, video, and smells from everything going on inside your vehicle. But don't worry, it only transmits the data when people are actually IN the vehicle (otherwise, there's no data to capture/send). That device can actually look at every millimeter of anything contained within the passenger compartment. It can dig into your pockets, your purses, your wallets, your luggage, and your briefcase. It can hear every murmur and even monitor your body movements and conditions within. It can detect your heart rate, blood pressure, and even your full blood chemistry. It can monitor the plaque within all of your arteries, condition of your liver, lengths of your finger and toenails, and even the amount of dirty contained everywhere on your body - so they can determine the last time you showered and even what brand soap and shampoo you last used. They can read every single document in your pocket. It can even detect all of the fingerprints on any item you bring into the passenger compartment.
Unfortunately, no one has been able to determine exactly WHO or WHERE this data is going to. But someday they will.
But don't worry, they're not able to monitor whatever you put into the trunk - at least not yet.
