Passenger side of the firewall, if you take off the engine cover, you'll see vacuum lines running across the valve cover - trace those back to the firewall side of the engine and you'll feel them. Not going to lie, it is mostly a touch and feel kind of job but it is definitely doable.
After 4h of trying to unscrew the two bolts, I gave up... I did what most of the DYIers do, disconnected the two hoses and the electrical connector and then left the old solenoid in place...
I did get one screw out though....
Just make sure you secure the new solenoid, unnecessary rattling/vibration will kill the solenoid quickly.
Well, I secured it with a tie wrap to a thick wire bundle. Changing the hose with a wider one did not work, I had to re-use the existing one. Now, I am in a quest for getting the upgraded thicker hose from Japan. I will keep you posted with the progress.
The car is still rocking when accelerating but don't go in limp mode anymore... I guess I will be gentle with the pedal for a while now, no choice...
How often does this solenoid fail? Does it need to be replaced after N miles/years ? Perhaps as a preventative measure?
Apparently this is a problem with the first generation 200t models from years 2015-2017.
In 2017, they issued a TSB with a upgraded hose (thicker on the back side). I haven't seen anyone complaining with cars after 2017. I may be wrong though...

What was the issue in the TSB, I can't find exact info?
The hose was too thin and cracked, resulting in a hose replacement or the whole solenoid needed replacing?
I'm facing this issue right now on my 2015 NX200 and the mechanic took a quick look and said my actuator works fine and narrowed it down to the solenoid area. Would be great if it just needs a new (thicker) hose instead of a whole solenoid
