Different total sales volume targets may yield different business cases. They also may not need to sell as many NX hybrids for CAFE as they need the ESh's, so ESh may have gotten a lot of leeway whereas the NX may need to be able to recoup a lot of those hybrid costs and be profitable. They want to be market-based in their pricing, but sometimes you need to minimally cover costs.

Yes, the Lexus version of the Prius, but judging by all the posts I've seen here from f modders maybe there is market for some horses under the hood of the CT. for the younger crowd.

sure, and if you take out the heavy batteries, electric motors, and regen brake gear, the car will go faster anyway.

I saw a story about this the other day in another publication. In addition to the turbocharged 4-banger, there'll be a hybrid version. I'd assumed that they would be using the 2.5 L/200 combined hp Camry hybrid power train, however I saw one report that the Lexus NX hybrid would have 300 combined hp, which would be more than the RX 450h has. I'd been planning to wait for the NX until I happened upon a CPO 2010 RX 450h last November with only 15,000 miles on it, and a deal that was just too good to pass up. I was moving up (escaping) from my 6-cyl. '07 RAV4 Limited because I just couldn't stand the ride anymore and I loved the RX 450's smooth, quiet and comfortable ride. I wonder whether the NX will be like the RX that way or more like its RAV4 cousin.

I'm very happy with our RX 450h, by the way. My wife is the one who seems to squeeze the best mileage out of it. She had hardly driven it at all up until the last week or so, when I was hospitalized for an unexpected surgery. The car's been averaging better than 31 mpg since she took over the helm, or at least that's what the on-board computer claims.

NX hybrid will not have 300 HP, will be very similar the Camry/ES system.

Yeah, 300 hp didn't make any marketing sense to me. Plus that would make the NX even more overpowered than the 6-cylinder RAV4.

Fixed for you.

And actually it would make it more powerful than the older sibling 270hp RX350 and 295hp RX450h

Hoovey2411, I gave my "defunct" '07 6-cylinder RAV4 to one of my daughters, at which point it still had less than 50K on the odometer. Properly serviced, it should serve her well for another 7 years. And if she decides she'd rather have something else, like a conventional truck (she was driving a '99 Nissan Frontier), she can probably get a good price for selling the RAV, as I suspect that low-mileage, used 6-cylinder RAV4s would be in demand because they're defunct as a new-car-sales model, and because in my opinion at least, they drive better than the new 4-banger. But they ride like crap, again just IMHO.

When I received the email alert I thought someone had finally found a photo of the NX, unfortunately just more off topic personal stuff that should be done by a PM.

That's all good. I didn't mean any disrespect when I used the word "defunct", simply the statement I quoted could have been misinterpreted that the V6 Rav4 still exists, hence I added the word "defunct". I still think it was a bad idea to drop the V6 without a top of the line replacement engine than just the standard 2.5 I4

I apologize for disappointing you. We started with the NX and went off on a tangent, which is one of the things I enjoy about these car forums -- as long as the tangents don't become political. This might be close to what you're looking for, although you've probably already seen it.

Thanks, I hadn't seen it. I actually like this version but doubt that it's close.
