Trade your vehicle for the NX?
#62
Not sure....at times I certainly don't use the space offered by the RX, despite carting my three kids around a couple times per week. So something smaller would be fine, though I will probably go the Porsche route. I didn't go with the Cayenne when I purchased my F sport due to limited availability at the time and the $16K price different for a similarly equipped car. But I preferred the Porsche to the Lexus overall. But now that Porsche has the Macan, which is basically the size of the NX with a turbo V6 in it, that is much more appealing. I don't know the weight of the NX, but I worry about a 4 cylinder being powerful enough (even with the turbo). I imagine the Porsche Macan will weight about the same as the NX (from what I have read it will have similar dimensions) but will have more than 100+ HP and more than 100 ft-lb torque compared to the NX. It's not that HP is everything, but there have been enough times when I thought the RX was underpowered (even with only a modest amount of stuff in the car), so going down to a 4 cylinder is not appealing to me. I don't see the point of having an SUV, even a compact one, if the engine is so small that you run the risk of the car acting like a slug if you actually load it up.

If that is all you are going to make over the dealer's price, I would trade it in. Since you only pay tax on the purchase price of the new car minus the trade in, you would save over $2000 in tax by trading it in (depending on your tax rate)...just a thought.

I'm very interested in the 200t and thinking about trading my 2006 GS in for it. We could use something more utilitarian than a sedan at this point and we live in the city and really don't want to get anything "big"... but ...
1) I am wary of getting into another "first model year" with Lexus...
2) We drive like 2000 miles a year, if that. New car going totally to waste with our driving habits. I'd rather get one with a few years left on the warranty, but a whole bunch of mileage already on it both to save money and for most of the questionable parts to have already been replaced under warranty that somebody else did the "work" of racking up the miles that I know we will never put on it during the warranty period.
But damn, it would be like 3 or 4 years wait to get a 2 or 3 year old used one. What to do?
I also need to look up whether parking sonar is an option on the nx, at this point I don't think my wife will agree to any car that doesn't have them lol.

In Illinois $800 to $1000 wouldnt come close to the sales tax credit you get by trading in. In IL our sales tax is anywhere between 8% and 10%. You are only taxed on the difference between the trade in value and the purchase price.

Now this car is smaller than RX and price should be cheaper. LExus said price will start from under 4000$ maybe will good option. But this car is not SUV and only 2liter engine . I will try to buy bigger car will be better.

Correct, the NX isn't an SUV - It is a CUV (crossover utility vehicle). CUV's are smaller than SUV's.
