hey guys, about to pull the trigger on a nx200t fsport AWD lease.. 36 mo / 12k miles, just wanted to get some input to see if anyone has done the same. I didn't really see pricing similar to mine going through the thread:

putting 0 down, 9 MSD's in NJ:
was quoted from 2 dealerships:

448 / mo, 1850 out of pocket (fees and first month payment)
439 / mo, 1900 out of pocket (fees and first month payment)

Hi everyone, new here and also my first time leasing a car. I applied for pre-approval online at LFS and received a credit decision with an extremely high monthly payment of $959/mo for $0 down at 48 months for a base model NX 200t F Sport. Does this mean anything at all? Or should I disregard the numbers for now, as I should be dealing directly with the dealership?

That approval means that LFS is willing to finance a monthly payment of up to $959/month based upon your credit profile and the information on your application. I went the same route; my "approval amount" was also far higher than what my payment ended up being.

That makes no sense, you'd be paying $48,000 in lease payments?

You may want to look into a straight buy with financing over 60-72 months. I was able to get sub-3% from PNC bank for 72 months. Your down payment is basically covering your negative equity in your existing vehicle. My guess is you would only pay about $100 or so more a month in a straight purchase with the benefits of unlimited miles and having an asset that you can freely sell / trade in. I am not sure the price but guessing it may be in the $47k range.

ya $48K - is that a good price? We keep seeing people on this threat in the low to mid 40's with similar packages to what we are getting

I used trueCar and Edmunds pre-negotiated pricing to get my deal. I worked with a few dealers and was able to get my local dealer to match the price. A lot depends on how competitive the dealers are in your area. I am in a populous area where I have at least 5 Lexus dealers within 50 miles of where I live. On top of that there are numerous Acura, Mercedes, BMW, and Audi delaers plus the mainstream brands so if they play games with price customers will turn to an alternative vehicle.

$48k OTD? I dont think so, though it also depends on what are the TTL+Fees in your area and the demand for NX's. On average you can get about $1k-1.5k of MSRP and sometimes more.

Just purchased this week:

NX 200T Basic AWD
Matador Red Mica / Black interior
Luxury package
NAV
Led Headlamps w/o Auto High Beams
Pre-collision
Park assist
Blind spot monitoring
Preferred package w/rear bumper protector
Floor mats

MSRP: $47,558
Negotiated price: $43,000 (about 9.6% off MSRP)
OTD: $46,995

There are about 7 dealers in my immediate area (DC). I used TrueCar to start the conversation, but the only offers were a couple of thousands off MSRP. I found that many dealers were hesitant to email their prices for fear that I would take it to other dealers. They wanted me in their offices to disclose their can't-be-beat prices. I waited it out. I've been waiting since December! Then this past weekend, one dealer sent me an email with a greater discount to $44K, so I went to TrueCar again to put my name out there. Two dealers immediately called, and once again, I told them I was waiting for a certain price. For the first time, rather than volunteer their "deal," they asked what price I had in mind ($43K). The first dealer said he would talk to his manager. The next day a second dealer called and gave me the deal, and I put a deposit on it. It was done in less than 5 minutes, as I knew what I wanted. Went in, test drove to see that all the options were there, and as we were signing the papers, the first dealer calls probably to give me my price, so I guess more than one dealer was willing to make the deal.

My husband regretted we didn't ask for an additional $500 off, but when he mentioned this to the salesperson, the salesperson said that they lost $2200 on the deal. I replied that at least they were able to move another unit and would probably get a volume bonus. It was the end of the month and the end of the quarter, so the dealer wanted to move inventory.

Happy with the deal, but even happier with the car!!

is this really true - "the salesperson said that they lost $2200 on the deal"

Or after translating from car dealer speak, it means something else?

It could mean a lot of things, but I didn't spend too much time thinking about it.
