If you are 80% sure you will purchase after the lease is over, why not buy it now? Your insurance will be less expensive as an owned vehicle, as opposed to a leased vehicle (generally speaking). However, it's the 20% that could be a concern.

I'm assuming this particular lease is for one year. Do you think the value of your hybrid will be more or less than $30,049 one year from now?

Its for 3 years:
Leasing option:
$510 monthly
$3000 Down
30,049 residual
10,000 miles

when I add everything together this lease cost more than the MSRP of the car. Is there something im missing?

Oh, I see. I thought the 10,000 miles was the total for the lease. My bad.

I'm no lease expert, but one of the keys is that in three years, if the car is worth more than the residual ($30,049), you can buy it back at that price—giving you instant equity. If it is lower, then the lessor may insist you buy it at a price higher (the residual) than it is worth—typically not a sound business decision.

Unfortunately, it's always a gamble when estimating lease residual values for new automobiles with no history.

Default Update - purchased a 2015 NX200t

I had asked on this forum a week or two ago about the deals on 2015 vs 2016, didnt get many responses....but here are my numbers.

A dealer near detroit offered $1,500 off the MSRP of $36,883 for a base model 2016 (which includes cargo net, floor mats and heated seats - no packages). So that meant $35,200 before tax/title. A dealer here in Cleveland / Akron gave me invoice price less additional $500 on the same car for 2015 which comes out to $33,839 (but no floor mats). The TDA here is higher by a bit, and they have a mystery fee in addition to title and tax that makes the out the door number a little higher.

I am going to sign today. So the "best deal" on the 2015 was $1300 less than the "best deal" on a 2016. Not much in my opinion, if I had been more flexible on the packages I wanted, etc. - I probably would have gone with the 2016. But I need dark interior (not that beige most of these cars come with - too easily stained) and with heated seats and no packages. So there weren't any 2016's with the specs I wanted, not without driving 5 hours to Cincinnati.

Happy shopping! There seem to be a lot of 2015's still in inventory, I can't believe they are offering better deals. I know the model hasn't changed at all, but the year older does affect value on the car.

I went through this topic and seems like recently both NX300h and 200T can have 10% discount from MSRP. If tag price is 51,000, probably I can get it at around 46,000 before tax, right?

However, if I want to customize it and wait for 3 months, does anyone know the possible discount range from MSRP?

Thanks~

Where are you buying your car?
It says that your location is Taiwan but your price examples look American/Canadian. It really depends on location.

In Canada, Toronto specifically, Lexus SUVs sell very well (there well are over 10 dealers in the Greater Toronto Area) so the average paid is pretty close to MSRP. You might be able to get a bit off, but 10% is very ambitious unless you're buying last year's model which is what I did.

If you're looking at a 2016 in the near future it may be hard if you're buying in a place where there's a demand. Western Canada has less demand than Eastern Canada so you'd have more luck there. I'm guessing you would also have better luck negotiating in the US as well if that's where you're buying.

Wow! Looking at the prices I must have lucked out that I bought it in July. I got 11% off on base NX200t with powerlift gate, preferred accessory package and free tints. Lexus must be selling them like hot cakes.

I don't know how much you can expect in discounts in the SF area. There are more packaging options in the US which may help if you just buy what a dealer already has on the lots.

This doesn't seem correct...

It's a 2015 NX hybrid AWD (although it says 2014) with over 24,000 miles (39,000 km) and the selling price is $70,000 USD (or 63,800 €).

That's because in countries with things like free college and healthcare, the taxes are very high, often more then the cost of the car. I friend in Denmark bought a VW GTI for $55,000 US, same car in the USA is around $26k
