Default Any ES owners trade for NX?

If so, are you happy with the decision? Considering doing this, as I am definitely finding the cargo space in the ES not meeting my needs. Haven't gone in for a test drive, but am planning to in the upcoming week.

Also, are there any sun-glare problems with the NX nav display? i've heard people complaining about this in the ct200, since it has a similar display set up, with no dash overhang for shading.

This is an interesting post and I am curious if there are other ES owners considering the move.

I've driven the ES on several occasions and the core value of the ES is a near-LS smooth, quiet, comfortable ride which soaks up the bumps effortlessly. If this is your core requirement of the NX (apart from cargo) is this ride quality, the NX may disappoint and your better fit is the RX. For instance, both the ES and RX have the Lamisafe (double-pane) front windows over the standard single-pane glass in the NX (IS, and CT) which contribute to the quieter ride, while the RX's longer wheelbase and softer tuning is closer to the ES than the IS (which the NX is more closely similar to).

I'm considering the switch from my '13 ES.

I've test-driven the NX and really liked it -- but, in all fairness, it was a short test drive, so I'll want to have it out for a bit longer and on interstate/highway as well. Certainly, the NX interior is more "cramped" (though, to me, not uncomfortably), so there will be some adjustment period. I love my ES, without question, but I've been considering a crossover, and I love the look of the NX.

Planning on meeting with my dealer to "price out" an order in early- to mid-January, so we'll see.....

More to come!

When you say the cargo space in the ES doesn't fit your needs, what is it that you're needing to carry?

I just looked at an NX yesterday, I really liked it...but the cargo area isn't big without folding the seats down. If you're carrying people in the back seat and luggage, I think the NX would have less cargo room than the ES, not more.

The ES is about 15 cu ft, the NX is 17.7 cu ft beneath the tonneau cover. Remove the cover and there's about 10 more cu ft you can cram stuff to the ceiling , but block visibility to the rear (as with any other SUV).

Hi All!

In follow-up response to my December/2014 post about considering a trade of my '13 ES for the NX - well, I did it....ordered my NX on 3/24, and it just arrived at the port today for unloading, and loading onto a truck for delivery here in Indy! Maybe even by Saturday!

I'm bouncing off the walls with excitement, and can't wait to share my views on the ES-to-NX transition.

More to come...........SOON!

Best,
dCota

We traded in a 13 Camry which shares the same platform as the ES. If you're looking for a major upgrade in the cargo area. The nx falls short. There's a little extra. Larger items will be easier to carry. As far as passenger compartment. I'd say the nx feels smaller. That sportier feel might make it seem that way. I still have no complaints. I'm sure you'll love it! It's still a very useful vehicle overall.

Oh yeah -- quite a number of times, actually!

Really excited, and though I'm not counting on it - would be a GREAT way to celebrate the 4th if it arrives on Saturday.

Best,
