A black hard rubber / plastic protector is a much better option to receive the dragging abuse than a polished stainless part that will show the scratches and scuffs.

I can't say which is correct, but the factory installed the protector at the rear of the bumper on my 2017 F-Sport..

Excellent. That's where I installed ours. I noticed that there was a a cutout/indentation on the bumper protector that fits with the groove of the rear bumper. Made it much easier to line up that way as well. Longest part seemed to get it even/centered with the boot lid/latch but not centered like the directions state because then it would be off slightly. Hopefully it does it's job. I like that it blends in with the wife's black nx. Makes it way less obvious looking.

its odd that our shorter and smaller asian friends have no problem removing their luggage/cargo without dragging it across their bumper
I guess my weak lazy butt needs to buy one of these lol.
