depends on whether lexus enform app offers remote start from the app. If it does, it has to have the remote start module built in. If not, then I guess no bueno

the question will come down to:
- subscribing to the Lexus Enform Remote service for about $220 a year
- buying a Compustar / Viper system and then paying their subscription which is less.

After 4 years:
- Lexus Enform - free 1st year, then 3 years at $220 = $660
- Viper / Compustar - free 1st year enform + $400-600 installation + $139-199 subscription for phone access = $539-$799

After 7 years:
- Lexus Enform = $660 for 1st 4 years plus another $660 = $1320 (unless Lexus reduces the price)
- Viper Compustar = $539-799+ $139-199 = $678 - $998

Based on these costs the after market system may be cheaper if you hold your vehicle more than 4 years but for $300-400 do you want to risk adding more equipment to your vehicle. There is also risk that Lexus may try to compete with these aftermarket systems by lowering their price or offering cheaper options for 3-5 year subscriptions.

It might be... The Canadian models don't get it from the factory either. I'm not sure about the JDM NX's or European models.

I just got my Enform working today. Where is the remote start? Is it on the phone? Because if it is, I can't see the option.

And Enform is a subscription? So once it expires I can't check the weather and fuel prices? I hope it just suspends the concierge service, because there is no reason why the weather is a subscription service.

There's an app in the iTunes & Google Play stores called "Lexus Enform Remote"
It replaces Res, and Res+ for the NX. I was already registered on the Lexus Drivers website from my previous cars, so the delivery specialist just had to add the NX to my account. She told me this was how they registered your car for the service. The Remote app will ask you to log in, and then you can remote start your car from there. *IF it's available to you. That, I don't know. I hope so though!

As for the Enform Apps like weather and fuel prices, in the US that option is NOT subscription dependent. You need to launch the app on your phone, make sure the car is paired to it via bluetooth, and then the NX uses your cellular data on the phone to use the apps through the vehicle interface. I'm not sure about the AU, but here both traffic and weather are obtained through the HD radio as well. They search for certain signals being broadcast and update every 15 minutes. I'm not sure if you have something comparable down under...

The Enform app in Australia does not include the above Remote functions.

A remote start was not offered to me last year because the dealer showed me how to start the car with both the key fob and the app. I was not aware that the fob may be connected to an enform subscription.

A buyer would really need to do research and push to get a dealer to do this and it will cost more than $399 with installation. My wife has an economy car and was asking about a remote start. The dealer actually gave her the name of the place that does it for them saying the dealer one is nice but not as good as after market remotes. She would save the mark up if she went directly.

In general Lexus is pushing at the subscription model. Hyundai has a similar program with their Blue Link that they charge $99 a year for.

If Lexus would de-couple the remote subscription with their concierge / safety services then they could charge about $125 a year for it, which would be comparable to what Viper charges. Compustar Drone Mobile has a similar plan too at 2 levels of $49 and $119 a year. When I stopped by the place for my wife's car they suggested Compustar over Viper. They sell both but though Compustar's quality was equal at a lower cost.

Default Bypass door turning engine off?

Is there any work around so opening the car door won't turn car off? I know it's a security thing. It's also a pain in the *** thing.

No way around it unless you want to get in your car without opening a door or unlocking the doors...which is a bigger pain in the ***.

I'm picturing everyone trying to "Dukes of Hazard" the NX, only to be stuck in its tiny windows

I know mine won't let me activate the remote start if doors (and I think) windows/sunroof are open/unlocked.

i was finally able to get the enform remote application activated. So far it has worked really well.

One interesting thing that i came across that i am not sure how many people know , after having the enform remote activated, you can then use key fob to also remotely start your vehicle. It is funny lexus does not really mention this or promote it.

You simply press the "lock" button three times and on the third press you just hold the button down until you see the lights flash an additional time. The car will then start a few seconds later.

Comes in handy now and then when you don't want to use the phone app. So far i have tested it up to 50-60 feet away and it has worked without issue.

my question is do you need the lexus enform activated in order to program the key fob, and why?
