I would not do an oil change at 1500 miles. Many cars (Not sure about Lexus) come with a special break in oil from the factory and it should not be changed un the first scheduled period. Example is my VW R32, which clearly started in the manual that the factory fill oil must not be changed prior to 5000 miles. Then change oil and filter every 10k miles after that

In Singapore, the sole-distributor/dealer changes the oil at 1k and 5k kilometers. This is part of the mandated servicing and is printed on the servicing booklet.

They told me that the first oil out of the factory is mineral after which all servicing starting at 1k will be synthetic. Similar to all the Japanese cars that are sold here.

Our oil in North America does have a mixture in there to help the engine break in, so I'd say don't change it till at least 8,000km.

That's an interesting discovery, that Lexus would have different oils out of the factory for different markets.

Here in Singapore, we have to do the servicing at the dealership to keep the warranty valid (5 years). The first 3 years are touted as being 'free' (right, we already paid for it) and the 4th and 5th years are chargeable. Our servicing schedule is like this, 1k km, 5k, 10k, 20k, 30k up to 100k in 10k increments.
