I'm not crazy about buying in to any proprietary system (i.e., Lexus branded), but are the ones shown in the photo actually similar or made by a 3rd party? I currently have components for Thule Whispbar line, and am hoping I can just buy roof bars that will allow me to continue to use the components I have (bike and ski rack mounts). I know there are not a ton of NX owners out there yet, but anyone have any info or experience to share?
I don't know if they are Lexus made or 3rd party, but from what I saw of the Thule Whispbar at REI when I was there they are very similar.
I bought Malone Kayak J-Racks and they worked just find on the Lexus Cross Bars, they just clamped down on them without any issues.
I would assume that those Malone one's work on the Thule Whispbar as well, so I would think that your other items would work, but I won't make any guarantee's, try it at your own risk, obviously.
Awesome - thanks for the additional pix - shows more detail and certainly looks like my Thule components should be fine. Now if only I had my NX to put them on!!!
The waiting is killing me - lol.....
Does or has anyone found or bought aftermarket roof rack kit for an NX300H that has no factory roof rails at all otherwise I would be putting on factory roof rack kit. Dealer says close to $2300 for the installation of the rails themselves.
Ouch, that's crazy expensive and I would just consider a standalone aftermarket roof rack like this below. But I'm no expert and hopefully some members with more experience can chime in if this is even an option.
Thanks, I have already checked with the mainstream aftermarkets and they don't have anything for the NX without rails yet, who knows, maybe they are not aware that they can come without rails too. Thanks
I guess I didn't know that you could get an NX without the rails. I thought those were standard. Interesting...
I agree I didn't know this either.
Can the OP take a pic of the top of the car, and from the front and back as well, I would really like to see how this looks compared to the one with the roof rails that we have.
I went to lexus.com and found two photos of the hybrid w/o roof rails. I would have never even noticed that they weren't there if I wasn't specifically looking for them.
I would buy the OEM crossbars, they are pricey, but very easy to take on and off. I also believe they are Thule crossbars branded with the Lexus logo. I have Thule bike racks that fit with no problem and here is a pic with the Thule Force (medium) cargo box.
