How was Lexus able to hide this fact??!!

No worries, though. There's an ebay seller who'll satisfy all of your bumper punching needs for just $300 shipped!

Most modern cars lack bumpers anymore in the term in which you use it. Most cars anymore come with plastic front clips, which are nothing more than a plastic bumper, followed by styrofoam, before you hit the crash bar at the front of the frame. The car's crash safety ratings are based off the results of that crash bar. As such, they don't really need to be concerned with a bumper.

Plus, plastic front clips are very easy to replace, which makes car body shops happier as well.

And finally, I don't think its overly flimsy at all. Its pretty consistent with the front clip of my mazda and my Camaro. Its plastic. Why in the world would you kick it?

I agree with Swacer, why would you kick your grill ? In cleaning my grill this weekend, I did not find it flimsy. It is more substantial than the plastic slats on my previous car grill. All vehicles are going lighter weight in many areas for better MPG and aerodynamics.
