Wheels - winter
I'm starting to prepare for the winter and looking for new winters.
I'm looking for a decent set of alloy wheels, no budget for premium wheels.
Didn't find much in the Wheels & Tire Forum, anybody can shed some light or recommendations?

Why not run the wheels and tire setup you're running now? Personally, I'm going to ride out the all seasons through the winter. I had winter tires on my last car (because the previous owner had them), and I found them to be no more helpful than a good quality all season.

That really depends on where you live. I used to live in snow country(140"per season) and if you didn't have snow tires you would eventually find a ditch. At the time Blizzacks were the only thing.

I've had winter tires previously in my last few cars in the past 20 years. They keep my all-seasons last longer and they are better in the winter than all seasons (especially after the 1st season of all seasons).
I went to a few sites (eg. tirerack) and it has no info on the specs of the wheel. I am looking at either 17 or 18" wheels and the tires that follow it.
Looked at Canadian tire to get some info, and their tool has no info for the NX, and Costco also does not have info on the wheels too.

Look at the specs for the standard FWD model with the 17" wheels and use that as square set up for the winter wheels/tire combo. Should keep the rolling diameter the same as the 18" wheels and shouldn't result in any fitment issues with the AWD or the F-Sport versions.
"17 x 7-in 10-spoke alloy wheels with 225/65R17 all-season tires*" It is standard Toyota 5 bolt hub centric fitment.
Costco has hub centric steelies that match but I already have a set from the 2011 RX that should fit the NX.

Specs you need:
5x114.5mm
17x7 or 17x7.5 (or 18x7 or 18x7.5)
Center bore 60.1mm
offset, acceptable range +30 to +45
In Canada, factor in about $300-350 per entry-level 17" wheel/tire combo tax included, and higher for nicer wheels and better tires. More for 18", etc. I sent you a private message on my prior 20s, if interested for about the same price - let me know. Else, check out Tire rack, but add about another 300-400$ USD for shipping/customs, total x 1.3 for Cdn$.
Also check out 1010tires.com. Prices are in Cdn. They ship from Mississauga or BC. Just add tax and a small fee for shipping. Wheels tires come fully mounted and balanced as well as with the correct hub-centric rings. All you need to do is mount the wheel/tire combo and you're rolling. It's where I bought my recent 19s on my IS and 22" tires for my Vossens on the NX.
Note though TPMS for all four wheels are extra (~300$+ and 100$+ to program them at Lexus) no matter where you buy your wheels/tires, else you can have Lexus swap them when they will program them, or live with no TPMS monitoring for 5 months in the year.
Have fun shopping!

Just bought 4 x 225/65R17 Blizzak WS80 from Costco for $585 CAD including mount and balance. I was historically a Michelin supporter (Pilot Alpin PA4, X-Ice Xi3), but heard good things about the WS80. They are also much cheaper than the Xi3, which wasn't available at Costco in that size anyway. I've read Blizzak performance decreases substantially with tread wear, but we have very low mileage (~8000 km/year) so I expect these to last longer than I plan to own the NX.
I prefer OEM so I'm waiting for the stock 17" rims to go on sale at the local dealer (usually 30% off before the winter season) and then will bring to Costco for installation. On the fence about spending $400 for TPMS sensors, at least until Carista finalizes it's TPMS tool..

Thanks! Very good reference! Might need to live without the tire pressure for the 5 months.

are you looking to protect your wheels too? if not and if you want to save even more money just have a shop swap them out for you and use your OEMS.

Mounting and dismounting tires on rims puts a lot of wear and tear on the bead of the tires. More chances to develop slow leaks and damage to the lips of the rims.
