Default Window tints

Just got Llumnar ceramic 30% installed on the fronts to match the factory rears. Turned out really good without looking like limo tint. I also got the same for the 3IS but that was both fronts and backs since they didn't come tinted from the factory.

Shout out to Danny at Thornhill Tints who did the job while I watched.

Total time both sides, under an hour.

It's actually 4 pieces, since there is that small window right in front of the side mirrors. The price is based on the market here in Canadian dollars. In Florida , based on your location, you should be able to get it done within $US 150.

How did you get 30%? Typically tint is offered as 5, 20, 35, and not worth it haha.

    Is ceramic treated differently?

    Llumar Ceramic CTX 30%
    http://tintmanwindowtinting.com/5_ll..._vs_atr_vs_ctx

Just a tad lighter than the back from factory, so likely that factory is 25%. I chose this one for the heat rejection since we drive southbound in the morning and northbound in the afternoon.

Oh and Llumar makes an 80% film with 99%UV and 43% heat rejection, almost transparent so perfect for windshields or for those that don't want the gangsta look.

I paid way less than that in CDN dollars and that included the rear windshield for my 3IS. Great local guys, lots of good reviews and they keep busy doing mostly dealer work.

My driver/pass side windows were dealer installed tint. Sticker showed $399. I didn't pay for it, they were a dealer comp.

Never done tinting before, but it does feel like interior, dashboard get hotter than on my old car. What's the better option for the tint that's least visible?

You can go for Llumar AirBlue80 a ceramic with 99% UV and 43% heat rejection that lets 78% of the light through. Almost transparent so you can have them go all around, including the windshield and all the glass that already has the privacy tint on it from factory.

I personally wouldn't do it that way. I would go with the airblue80 on the windshield and the privacy treated glass and go with Llumar CTX30 on the front driver and passenger side windows. Besides, heat builds up over time, so a parked car will get hot, it's just a matter of how long it takes. On the NX we just did the front windows, to match the back and reject most of the direct sun rays while driving.

Thanks, I'll definitely look into it.

Scheduled to have my front windows tinted on the 10th.

I'm also going to inquire about having the roof vinyl'd black, and ask how the life is if its it subjected to winter weather once a year. This will probably apply to both my wife's IS and the NX.

Might also see about covering some of the plastic trim with a red interweaved carbon fiber wrap.

I wrapped my Wrx roof in 3M gloss black. Made it through this past winter with no issues. Since its a white car also wrapped the sharkfin antenna. That started to bubble a little when the weather warmed up. Nothing that a heat gun couldn't fix. Overall I was very happy and for under 200 bucks I could just get it redone in a couple years if the vinyl wears.
