Winter Tires/Wheels Suggestions
Hey guys
I just picked up my NX200T yesterday and I really like the car.
I'm thinking of winter tires for the next season now. I live in Toronto so there isn't too much snow but I do drive up to Blue Mountain for snowboarding and skiing quite a few times a year. I will also be driving to Montreal for a trip in February.
What kind of wheels do you recommend? I prefer michelin X-Ice but I'm not sure if I should dish out some serious dough for Lexus rims with TPMS or if I should just go with something cheaper.
What happens if I don't have the TPMS? Do I just get warnings on the console?
What have you guys done?

I talked to the Lexus dealer today. He said that I can only get the 18" wheels and not the 17" because the f-Sport has different brakes that will not fit on the 17".
I don't quite believe this. Is he lying?

I would call a different dealer's parts dept. I just bought the Fsport in Kitchener, Ontario.. I am having my winters installed in a couple weeks. There was no issue in going with the 17" wheels and tires, because the base tire on the NX is 17".

I don't have any issue with my non F-Sport NX using the 17" OEM wheels.

That's exactly what I was thinking. How much are you paying for your winters? I was quoted 1670 for just the 18" wheels which isn't cheap. I bought my car at downtown Lexus.

I just emailed my Dealer's parts dept, so we will see what they say.
As for a price, this is what I was quoted for the 17s'
17” RWC wheels LX95
225/65R17 Michelin Latitude X-ice 2 tires
Lexus tire pressure sensors and fitting kits
Installation, balancing & programing of the sensors.
One season of storage
$1800.00 plus tax.

I just talked to the dealer again. He said the clearance is only 1/2" on the 17" wheels and they only sell OEM.
I'm interested in what you're getting though and I'm willing to go to the same dealer as you.

Well it was only $200 more for the 18" package. Here is the dealer I went to..

Yes, he looked at me like I was crazy lol. It was like $2000 just for the 18" wheels. He said the point of buying winter wheels is to save the oem ones. If you are going to buy another set of oems, you may as well just use the originals and buy ones when you need to.

Is there someone specific in parts and services that I should contact?

I guess I'll see what kind of rims they have available for the fsport. Im not sure if I like the wheels that you're getting but they're way better than the steel wheels I traditionally use for my winters.

I'll contact some other Lexus dealers in the area or maybe I'll even just go to a tire/wheel shop if I decide to go without the TPMS.
