Just to clear some things up. Detergent and additive packages are the same for all octane levels within each brand. The way it works is a fuel depot stored base fuels, gets an order. he base fuel is the same for any brand and then the additive package for each brand is added, blended before the fuel is delivered to the station.
I'm just curious, for the cars that you've dyno'd and showed no obvious improvements when using premium, are they labeled as "premium recommended" or "premium required" because there is a difference between the two and I'm not surprised to see no difference on cars with "premium recommended". For "premium required" vehicles it'd be a surprise to me not to see any difference.

I remember that the VW R32 was stickers Premium fuel, RON 95 required.
The Volvo said requires 87 Octane. Only in the owners manual did it says in small letters *Maximum engine performance is when using premium fuel, or something to that nature.

Can anyone in Canada confirm that MMT still exists in regular fuel sold in Canada? My reason to use Petro Canada 94 is because it is the only one in GTA that doesn't have MMT and as per any car manual, MMT is NOT recommended as it hurts the emission system.

I thought MMT is used in all fuel in Canada, there is exception?
I wouldn't worry too much about harming the car since it's been used for decades. I'm more concerned about the health and enviro effects.

Always use 91 minimum in the IS and the NX hybrid uses regular fuel. Over the past several years, premium has gone from 20 cents to 50 cents more per gallon. For the IS, fuel conditioner is added every 5,000 miles to clean the injectors. Finding fuel with good detergents is difficult. Shell has a history of adding detergents to their gasoline, but Shell stations are hard to find in southerin Indiana. I guess if you can afford a Lexus, seven bucks a tank is not that significant, but that's over $350 a year.
We just purchased a NX300h, and fuel conditioner will be added every 5,000 miles.

I'm jealous of all of you! Like I was saying in my previous post, there is now a $1/gal difference between regular and premium here in Chicago these days... Took this pic Saturday night.

Looks like in addition to the petroleum product for your car you also need a jar of another petroleum product to minimize discomfort.

Bwahaha, right!? This is precisely why I NEVER fill up in the city. It's cheaper to drive to Indiana than to even waste time pumping in Chicago.
