NX 300h owners and MPG aficionados!
So today I was able to hit 41.0 mpg according to the car's gauges; my personal best! With 1 mile to spare I was able to drive 480.1 miles but probably could've done more after the range hit 0 but was too scared to try it. So assuming I've been doing this correctly I calculate the miles driven to how much gas I put into my tank and acquire the real MPG which is 39.5 mpg, right? Curious as to what other NX 300h owners have been getting.
Think it's safe to try and drive the car till its empty? I'm afraid to do this on my CT 200h and even more so on the NX 300h; unless I carry around a 3 gallon gas can. Also heard about sediment debris in the tank itself and causing the battery to completely deplete is not good for the car.
FYI
I'm driving a 2015 FWD NX and drove mostly 90% city with slight hills here and there and temperatures have been around the 60s-80s. I also tried to drive roads with a speed limit no more than 45.
I also would like to know if other NX hybrid owners experience the same clicking/buzzing sound when they open the driver's door after the car has been stationary for a while?
Also, about how many miles are you able to drive on EV mode? I've only achieved about 1 mile under 25 mph; sound about right? One more question, anybody else get a slight odor from the A/C? I have this problem on the CT and even heard ES hybrid owners complain about this as well.
Thanks!

FWIW the ES 300h had a 40 mpg average over the 30 months I had it. Hard to justify an NX Hybrid with gas prices now, but I miss the infrequent refuelings. My gas model stays around 27.

My understanding is that you NEVER want to run it completely out of gas. It requires dealer intervention to get it back on the road. However, with that said, the reserve is quite large on the ES hybrid and I'm betting it is the same on the NX hybrid.
As for the buzzing, we only have about 150 miles on our NX so I can't say with any certainty that it's normal, but our ES hybrid and our former two Priuses had the same behavior so I expect the NX to exhibit that behavior. I am so used to it that I probably wouldn't even notice it.
Anyway, congrats on your excellent mileage. Our NX is an AWD and I don't expect to get anywhere close to your mileage - but I can dream.
Some people try to justify the cost of a hybrid purely based on the difference in fuel costs. Those folks have likely never owned a hybrid. There is more to like about a hybrid than simply improved gas mileage. We like the smoother and quieter drive of the hybrid power train and that is worth something to us - even if we have to give up some performance. Oddly, we don't notice the performance penalty nearly so much in the ES.

I have had my NX300h for only a week. My average 100% city driving in Eco was only 9.5L/100Km (25MPG). I am used to a Prius so I know how to drive a hybrid efficiently... I sure hope it gets better with time...
