Lexus NX 300
Just saw that Lexus filed a patent in the US for a Lexus NX 300 - 3.5L V6 similar to that of the IS 300 with 255 HP.
Wondering what everyone thinks of this? I know quite a few people were asking for a V6 but at that HP, it's only marginally better than the 200T?

The GS300 is likely to be a detuned 3.5 like its IS300 sibling because it's longitudinal whereas the NX300 would be transverse. There's a chance Lexus is making an all new GR series engine for the NX. Hopefully Lexus, save for the blasphemous IS300 ('16), sticks to nomenclature that depicts displacement and NA/FI.
Regardless of what the NX V6 is, the important part is that Lexus is listening to consumers by adding a new powertrain.

Just saw it on a few sites, of course this is all speculation.

What is a GR series engine?
I couldn't agree more, it's refreshing to see a company listen to it's consumers. Now if they only brought over the power folding side mirrors and a panoramic sunroof to the american market, that'd be a nice touch.

If a V6 does make it into the NX, it would keep pace with competitors who offer a 4 cylinder turbo base engines as well as 6 cylinder alternatives. I'm not sure that it's really needed, but the choice would be good..

I like your thinking. If those features are available on the NX outside of this market then there is NO excuse that they are not OPTIONAL here. I could care less if they were only special order only, but the fact it is available and we are not able to get them even if we're willing to pay for them is an insult to us.. that and the Scion iM comes with standard power folding side mirrors..
Also to echo your sentiments of the competition like the X3 with it's I6 or the RDX V6, or even the MKC 2.7 V6.

The Toyota GR engine family started in 2002 and replaced the MZ V6, JZ inline-6, and VZ V6 families. The GR series can utilize different drivetrains like FWD/RWD/AWD, could be NA/FI, and some mated to a hybrid system, different displacements and so on.

It's all about options. Having an array of powertrains helps the NX (and any vehicle really) better suit the needs of the consumer.

IIRC MB has announced they will be launching the AMG GLC43 (maybe it was the NY Auto Show). Something like 362hp/384ft lbs.

The pursuit of F
The 300 nomenclature is definitely promising of a V6 option.
Based on my experience with current and past Lexus V6 engines, it would be my choice over the current 2L Turbo.

If the acoustics are improved with the NX, since power is a given, it`d be a venerable oponent to the X3s and Q5s out there

It would be interesting if they offer the current IS300 engine...i also prefer v6 over 2.0T. But, the cost will definitely be higher.
A quick look on the lexus website and the IS300 engine has more HP than the 2.0T but less Torque...i personally want more torque over HP in an SUV. And the IS300 is only offer with AWD and not standard RWD - so maybe if this engine gets offered, it would only come with AWD version of NX rather than FWD?

Yeah, definitely will cost more but my guess would be 2-3 grand more than the 200T, which in the grand scheme of things isn't all that bad. With regards to torque, I'm the same ways...I would like torque to outweigh HP especially in an SUV. We have AWD standard on the Canadian models

TeaAholic1 and I were just discussing something similar on another thread the other day. In Australia, they have the RX200t, which I personally couldn't conceptualize. I would think it would be soo pokey and sluggish. However I don't see why Lexus NA doesn't offer it here in the States, even as a special order only like the Infiniti QX60 hybrid. It would be nice to give us motor options. I wonder if the 300 will be an upmarket F-Sport only type model, or available in similar config as they are now?
