Volume level for radio vs iPod
Hi, I noticed that the volume for my radio runs independently to the one for iPod on my Navigation unit. It's the first time I've come across such a system, is it supposed to run this way?

I have noticed different volume levels as well for different sources. You can alter the volume on your iPod manually on the iPod and it will alter the volume sent to the radio. So if the iPod is much louder then the radio, just lower the volume on the iPod device to try to bring it more inline with other sources

I can't for the life of me find the volume control for the iPod.
When it's connected via usb, it just seems to send the music signal over without any volume control, if you know what I mean.
Does anyone know if music quality is better through the iPod or a thumbdrive? The iPod's sound without EQ is quite poor to my non-audiophile ears.

Thanks for the info. Out of curiosity, what do you guys think about the sound quality? I've got the ten speaker system and it is poorer than my previous BMW stock setup.

I also have a 2013 MB C250 and the audio system in the Mercedes is better sounding then the Lexus. The C250 has a small sub in the back which I think the NX is missing. I have the regular audio in my NX

My NX has a sub in the tailgate but it's too far back to have a real impact. I added a sub in the front just above the front passenger's footwell, my wife hasn't noticed it yet...

Note that you can also change the tone controls separately for each
source. It you tap the "sound" button on the lower right corner you
will find them and the Digital Signal Processing controls for Surround
Sound and Auto Volume.

Yep that's another interesting discovery. I wonder why Lexus built it this way, with each source having its own volume and settings. It's totally unlike any other system I've used.
