Default 2017 nx

Realizing that the NX will only be entering it's 3rd year, any chance they may introduce an 8 speed, NX300 V6, or other upgrades for '17? Hoping Lexus speeds up their changes and not wait for MMC due to the competition out there.

I would love to know this also. My salesman said he would get 2017 NX in November.

I think I remember a V6 was rumored which is very welcome. I think an 8-speed would be nice but that seems like a very dramatic change for a mid-cycle.

My biggest hopes are on getting rid of the touch-pad. The thing is horrendous and I would rather have the **** thing that they put in the RX.

Have you adjusted the feedback/sensitivity? I basically turned off that "Haptic (?) Feedback", and it improved dramatically. It was almost unusable.

I remember I read about this when I got the car but then I forgot about it. I'll definitely try this out.
As it currently is, using the touch pad feels like ***... a fat hairy ***... Sorry for being vulgar but it is really my biggest pain point with the car.

Other than the novelty of saying you have an 8speed, what do you hope to gain from it?

The 4banger already can't get out of its own way in 5th and 6th gears, and now you want to add 2 more ******* down gears? So you're torqueless through 4 gears instead of 2...just so you can tell your friends you have an 8 speed? 1mpg extra isn't worth the pain of constant shifting.

There were times I'd push the gas down at 70mph and it would wait....6 -> 5...still torqueless...I cussed and yelled...put into M and did it myself....and again...you want to add 2 more gears??

Was hoping that the rumor of an NX300 (since Lexus has trademarked it) would be a small V6 with an 8sp. Drove the NX200t and coming from my RX the NX seemed to need a bit more power. Other than that I liked the size, as it's about the same as my first RX300.

I've heard the Qi Wireless Charger option is on its way out, since it doesn't so much charge as it does just hold a charge.

I think it's a useless feature. It wasn't placed in a convenient location like in the RX, and like you mentioned, not good at charging. Not to mention, the recessed design makes it difficult to fit many phones, especially when they have cases on then.

Could you state your source(s) for that statement?

I use it all the time. It's a low amp charger, so it takes a while, but it does charge (not just hold a charge). It's also not a "smart" charger—in that it doesn't regulate heat by reducing power when needed (like my PowerPort QI chargers at home and my office). That's why you can fry an egg on your phone if you leave it charging long enough.🔥

In the end, I use it regularly—it's better than nothing.

About 2 months ago by a corporate product planner for the US Western district. There has been some questions and confusion as to the Qi chargers capabilities/limits. Sounds like you're well versed in wireless charging technology, most Lexus buyers are not. So when they put their phone on the charger at 5%, drive point A to point B, and remove the phone only to see it's gone up to 7%, they think something wrong, compared to say using USB or their wall charger at home.

With no official press, its just hearsay for now, so take it with grain of salt.

edit** There's also possiblitity of the option being removed for just the Western region

Both of our current cars, as well as a previous car, have (ZF supplied) 8 speed transmissions and they are smooth as butter, shifts are smooth and barely noticeable and they are well suited to the engines in each. Personally I don't wish for a 6 speed in any of them. The 6 speed in Toyota/Lexus vehicles is a good one no wonder they stick with it.

I was at the dealer a week ago and the salesman said 2017 models around October. Not sure how accurate he is. I guess I'll wait for the 2017 NX before settling down on a car.

Dealership here really didn't/couldn't give info on the 17NX. Maybe a sign more than just minor changes? The IS put the turbo in after having the 250 V6 only 2 years, not waiting for the MMC. Maybe NX300 for 17?
