Default Moving On...

After two Lexus vehicles, the latest being an NX 200t Fsport, I am now a former Lexus owner. Friday night I said good bye to P3gasus as I traded him for a 2017 Honda Accord Touring hybrid. As I've told friends and posted on the NX facebook page, I loved everything about my NX from its truly unique appearance and the triple LED headlights to the driver ergonomics. Everything about it except for the fuel economy that is. I averaged just 23.9 mpg over the 13 months of ownership and tracking mileage at every fill up. Varied driving styles from spirited initially to super conservative in the end. It became an unfortunate obsession that I could not get over. So much so that I had to move on. Here is a pic of the two together. This community has been great and I will still check in from time to time. Thanks for sharing your love, nit-picks and inspirations.

The NX is an SUV after all... Nonetheless, enjoy your new Accord!

Fantastic choice! The Accord is quite a good car, especially the hybrid. I was close to buying one last year but none of the dealers had them in stock and those that did, wanted no less than MSRP.

yeah. They wanted msrp for this one too. Took some serious negotiation to get them off the price a bit. I feel i got a decent deal on this one.

At least you can get the F Sport package on the RX Hybrid if you wanted it. When the NX was first announced, I thought about getting the hybrid. Then I found out the nose of the North American NX would be different from the Euro/Asian version and would have what is, IMO, an ugly undercut. The F Sport front end looked more like the Euro version but the package was not available on the North American hybrid. At that point I chose appearance over mpg.

At 12,000 miles a year and $3 a gallon, the difference between 20mpg and 30mpg is only $50 a month. I hope you're saving at least that much to justify it.

Hybrids never pay for themselves in gas savings when you consider the addition costs of the hybrid drivetrain and that eventual battery replacement. You just have to own one to appreciate all their benefits. That said, I believe the mileage rating for the new accord hybrid is 49mpg. Still won't pay for itself in gas savings but a nice car.

if you do not mind, what drove you away from the NX to the Accord?

The savings is a bit more drastic than that. The accord hybrid is projected to get 48 mpg combined. My monthly milage is 1462 based on the 19000 miles i put on the nx in 13 months. At 23 mpg and $2.40/gal premium, thats $153 per month or $1836 per year. By contrast that same distance at 48mpg and $2.00/gal regular, is $61/mo or $732/year. That's a savings of $1104 annually!

Congrats on the new accord.
Honda did a hell of a job with the new accord (and the new civic).....it shocks me that I can't stop staring at one when I see one pass by.

Insurance should also be cheaper than the nx....don't forget that too
