My Review on the FTP Charge Pipe
First I would like to say thanks to Luke from ftp for hooking me up. Great guy and product, I had this Charge pipe installed for a week now and been driving around testing it out. This pipe definitely made a difference in car, it made the car fun to drive again. The car has better throttle response, less turbo lag and it feels faster. Even my wife feels the difference. I totally recommend the charge for anyone who's looking for a bit of a performance upgrade for very little money.

Thanks for the feedback. Any change in the smoothness of the engine idle by any chance?
For those wondering what the product is, it's posted here with a pseudo DIY in it too: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/cl-...or-nx200t.html

I would love to do this set up also with charge pipe and intake.. unfortunately they are not CARB approved at the moment. Of course there is ways around the system, but it could get expensive or tedious since we have to get smog checked regularly.

The only way you can get away doing this is if the dealer service dept. installs it. I had long tube headers installed on my Corvette when it was new by my dealer and they said it would not void my warranty.
Honestly, I wouldn't take the chance.

they said it would not void my warranty
Long-standing Court decisions (merged, paraphrased, and condensed): "no written agreement, contract, guarantee, or warranty can be modified, voided, extended, or misconstrued by any agent thereof".
The practical effect of what they said is that they (that dealer) would continue to behave as though the vehicle had not been modified. Unless it's in writing, it's only enforceable if they want it to be. Their offer has been repeated disclaimed by all the major manufacturers: it only applies to the dealer who agrees to it.
As they say, "an oral agreement is as good as the paper it's written on".

Look, you are entitled to do whatever you want. I am just saying that I would not take the chance. You are modifying an engine part that was not built with this part. Do you really want to get into a dog fight with Lexus over this. Even if you win, the money it will cost you to fight it would not be worth it. If you were to have a problem you will have to prove that it wasn't the part that caused the problem. What do you gain from this part and is it worth it. For one, I don't know what people are talking about when it comes to turbo lag. I don't see it.
A lot of these manufacturers claim the world about there part over the OEM and all it is, is a sales pitch just like tuning chips claim of 30 HP gains. Look, there are some brilliant engineers over at Lexus. It took them 5 years to develop this turbo 4 and they thought of everything to tweak the HP and torque on the engine. There is a great article on torque news discussing the new turbo 4 from Lexus. I was very expressed. You should read the archer before messing with this finely built motor.
Again, you do what's best for you.

You have been lucky to date. I wish you luck in the future. I was a service writer for Lexus for a very short period of time and I will tell you, it is all about the bottom line even when it is a warranty item.

They love you until you have a problem. You haven't had any issues. If you have an issue with something that is aftermarket that was caused by your replaced part, good luck. The dealer has to get approval from corporate and they couldn't care less what you dealers relationship is with you.

To be honest, if a dealership wants to void your warranty, they have numerous ways to do so. I do not believe replacing a pipe from plastic to aluminum would make such a big deal to them as they serve the same purpose.
Lexus has spent a lot of money in R&D to keep their motor as reliable as possible. I own an IS350, it's a great motor giving great MPG, power and torque but I do know that Lexus has given it a very conservative tune to keep it reliable. However I think you guys should also look at things from a business perspective, Lexus does want to earn a profit from selling cars. They have to cut cost from all the parts they use to maintain a competitive MSRP, that's why some of the parts are made by plastic becuz it's cheaper to produce, maintain and replace. Charge pipe does break under normal usage because they are made by plastic which does compress and expand due to temperature difference. I am not trying to say you have to buy our product but we are making these because we got demand from NX/RX owners all over the world.
If you want to keep your car OEM that's great. If you decide to get a charge pipe from us and worry free in the future we appreciate your business.
