Hi all,
i just got my NX200t, the blind spots monitor sensors are not alert by beeping noise. Is there an option or setting to turn that beeping noise for BSM alert??? Thank you so much!!!

I do wish there was a beep when the turn signal was activated and the orange light was on. The CR-X has this, and it's great.

I agree about the sound warning. Rented a Buick Lacrosse while in Florida this winter and the seat vibrated to warn you. It was effective.

double turn lane at a traffic light
you have your blinker on
you and the car besides you start going
the BSM light flashes like crazy
you want it to beep too?
i'm fine with it as is just because of that, but maybe beep/vibrate seat if over 30 MPH?

I agree, just a flashing light is more than good enough for me

You should be looking at your mirror when changing lanes and should be able to see the BSM light flashing. Having it beep would be annoying and unnecessary...might make your passengers panic and think you're a worse driver than you really are.

We had one car that beeped for BSM and for cross traffic--kind of distracting. I also have a new BMW that vibrates the steering wheel for BSM when you activate the turn signal, and I do like that so far. If seems more intuitive than "why did something beep?". Bottom line is, as above, use the mirrors. Interesting that it was very difficult this Spring to find a new BMW with BSM. They just don't equip them that way very often. Our dealer in NC had to swap one still on the boat headed to Texas for one of his incoming just to find one with that package. And, for the '17 models at least, cross traffic alert is not even an option (it is in '18). Probably German "driver should be focused on driving" thinking.

Interesting you mentioned BMW not equipping many models with safety tech. My cousin was shopping for a 2017 BMW 440i Gran Coupe and had a difficult time finding any cars with safety tech in the color he liked. Most of them were white and black, but he wanted blue. He finally settled on one with MSRP $57K and expected it to have BSM for the price. When he got home, he was very disappointed.

BMW and other German carmakers make it very difficult to find cars with safety tech. They either bundle them in expensive packages that require other packages or individual options that many dealers do not order. Maybe they are pushing for customers to custom order their cars and pay MSRP?

Mine is a 430i Coupe, dealer only found the one with the second tier Driver Assistance Plus Package that includes BSM, Front Side and Top View cameras, pedestrian and vehicle collision avoidance, lane departure. And it's white. Had to get it moved from the Galveston entry port and trucked to NC. Even the rear camera, coupled with park distance sensors, is optional (in the optional first tier package). $2650 for things you have come to expect. Looking at the configurator it appears all they added standard in '18 is a rear camera.

Is there anything available, aftermarket, that can be done to provide the single beep you get with other manufacturers when you activate the turn signal and a car is in the blind spot?

hey. I highly doubt that there is anything you can buy just for the beep. There could be a aftermarket BSM system you can buy. But then you would have an original and aftermarket. Lol. I don’t think you would want that.

Not relevant to the issue described by the OP, but sometimes my cross traffic alert will beep, even though there is no moving traffic.
Need to be in reverse, of course.
Can it behave as a general detector of objects perceived to be a vehicle, moving or not?
If I am backing up towards a tree, nothing. If I am backing up and there is a single car nearby behind, at right or left, it will occasionally fire.

When I am backing out of garage, all sensors seem to go off when close to dryer, washer, wall, bushes, garbage can--anywhere from 3 yellow bars to the dotted red ones depending on distance.
WIth the same backing up maneuver, if a car is coming from down the street, I get a another alert. Lots of buzzing....
I am thinking your parking sensors are not turned on? donno.

No parking sensors on my 2017 IS300 Fsport. Not available.
Only blind spot monitoring.
