Default Your low fuel gauge light is triggered, how many miles can you go for?

Your on vacation or going to work and your low fuel light turns on, how many miles do you think you can do before burping your fuel pump? Anyone tried ?

Lets put some conditions so that we have a comparable situation.

It's summer time at 15 degrees C.
Windspeed is low
You live in a flat word,
You don't have your A/C turned on (youre trying to save your fuel of course).
Windows are opened
Your'e going at highway speed

I would estimate 100km = 60 miles

can't speak for the NX, but in my RCF and my wife's Camry Hybrid there is 3+ gallons in the tank at the time the light comes on.

The 2015 RCF has a 17.4 gallon tank and I have (even just this morning) put fuel in it within a mile or so of the light coming on, and it will not take over 14 gallons.
The 2017 Camry Hybrid has a 17.0 gallon tank and it won't take over 13.5 gallons when the light comes on..

I had the same experience with my 1995 4runner, 15 gallon tank, only took 12ish gallons when light came on, Toyota seems to build a 3 gallon buffer into the design..

I will state that I did run my RCF dry (I do this will all my cars when I first get them) just to see how far it would go, and it went 64 miles past the "low fuel, you have ZERO miles left" warning. Camry went 106 miles.

ok thanks, I will check the balance with a full tank refuel to see how much fuel is left and estimate from there.

Looking at my previous 20 fill-ups, I average 12.35 gallons of pump-in fuel. Therefore, I'm thinking there are three gallons at warning time. Looking at my full history of filling up my NX (75 fill-ups), the average amount pumped in is at 12.10 gallons. So, yeah...about three gallons (or 11 liters) would be my calculated guess.

Details are here:

This was my biggest pet peeve with the NX (and a big reason I'm glad I went to the RX). My gas light would come on with 4 gallons still in the tank. With a 15 gallon tank, my gas light was lighting up with only 230 miles on the odometer. It was even worse in winter. RX does a similar thing, about 3-4 gallons left in the tank, but with the larger tank and better economy, I can go about 360 miles in the RX before the light comes on.

I've done roughly 10 Km after the needle pointed at E and ended up below it. Quite the experience.

My tank holds about 65 litres, when the light comes on and I fill up, it only takes about 50 litres. I asked the dealership if they could change it, and they said it can't been done and also varies from car to car.
