Lexus Enform 2.0 to update with Apple CarPlay
#406
I just updated our friends 2018' NX300H with carplay. Same install process when I did my wife's NX. Zero issues and super easy to do. Took about 1 hour.
Side question: So when my wife updated her iPhone OS and it now has the split screen for carplay. I like the split screen but I find it annoying that the upper right hand side has a dedicated "Gas, Food..etc" places that you can search. Can that part be changed? IE: Square map on the left, then two more boxes on the right side., bottom being what song is playing if you have music on... the top one just seems wasted since I am not always looking for gas or a restaurant to eat... See picture. The red square is what I want to change. I know this isn't on the NX but it's the same layout pretty much.
Thanks,
-Nigel

Finished the install on my 2018 NX300H. It's a really straightforward process that anyone that knows how to format and copy files to a USB drive should just do themselves. I think all these disclaimers are for folks that don't read instructions and download incorrect files or shut the car off in the middle of the process. So long as you are patient enough to read the directions, verify the versions (car and of download), it's very safe. It's really sad that Lexus feels the need to charge $200+ labor for this. It's pathetic that they haven't bothered to make versions available for the 2014-1017 hardware. It's not like 2019 is the first time carplay was common or available. It's like they want to subject people to their horrible Nav system and interface so that they are happy to fork over $200 or trade in their car to not have to deal with it. Crazy mentality if you ask me.

Edit: Also to clarify on my confusion, I guess you are right, all 2018 NX's are do-able. I think I had misread somewhere awhile ago that any manufactured before October 2018, couldnt get it. But I think that was for 2019 models manufactured before oct 2018.

Oh wow, thanks! so yeah, Im getting a 2018 NX 300 F Sport 2 used from the Gabriel dealer. Ive been to the Laval one, actually its very close to where I live, but they dont have anything at the moment. Thanks for the info though, Im trying to get them to throw it in for free since I am buying the car, at least worst case I know what dollar value to toss in since there was that promotion. thanks again!

Don't think nav matters. I have a 2019 NX300 with no nav (Fsport1), not sure if came with Carplay preinstalled but my sales guy told me they retrofitted all eligible cars on their lot when the update was released. This is at a Toronto dealership.

Yup, I think 2019 for sure is all eligible and seems like the 2018's as well. I wasn't 100% sure at first if all 2018 NX's were, but seems like they are all eligible. The one in particular that I'm looking to get, isn't pre-installed. thanks

reporting back the issue is that I was using a Mac, used windows with a sandisk and all is good took about an hour!
