Default Apexi Throttle Controller does not work on the 8AR-FTS engine

I purchase a Apexi controller, hooked it up by the manual, not skipping any steps, initialized it exactly how the instructions say, got the blue and red flashes meaning it initialized properly.. BUT, when I key the car on, the system freaks out, throws codes, goes to limp mode and I have no throttle at all. Clearing the codes does nothing. Looks like the newer throttle are possibly too advanced for a apexi controller. This is sad because I have data logged for months and have never gotten above 78% throttle.

Two questions.
1) Whats the benefit of this? Changing throttle response? I thought we already have the different drive modes for this?
2) What do you mean when you say you have not gotten over 78%? Are you saying on standard, the throttle never opens more than 78%?

Well I have learned somethings since this post.
1) the benefit would be instant throttle response as well as full throttle all the way through a gear. What the car does now is (no matter of mode) the throttle is progressively opened to full throttle til higher rpms are reached where it pulls the throttle back to allow a smoother shift. With this module you would have 100% while giving it 100% throttle. the ECU would not be able to progressively build it up for smooth feel or pull it back for shift. This of course would be a race oriented

2) what I have learned is the TPS ( Throttle Position Sensor) does see full throttle. The 78% reading I have been logging is with the percentage range the sensor gives for "full throttle". So yes, your car is seeing full throttle but it is coming on slow and getting pulled back before a shift.

I have attached some pics to help with the understanding.

Even assuming you could get "instant" throttle response, there's way too many bottlenecks in a 3600 lb 4 cylinder turbo car to feel any meaningful result.

for one you have extremely mushy engine/trans mounts. second, you have a very softly isolated (rubberized) rear subframe (IS) and diff mounts. lots of stuff in the way before the power is transferred to the ground.

the sport mode for throttle response is about as good as it's going to get.

@skyshadow
Reviving this thread to see if you found out what went wrong with the controller, was it defective or etc?
Been researching into getting this or any other similar product and wanted to see what other people think of it. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks!
