SST tool in this case is a short piece of wire....

Or, as I said before, entire assey needs to be removed:

We replaced the rear brakes on my NX by removing the parking brake motor and manually turning the piston/screw that the motor's shaft inserts to with either a Torx or Allen wrench (can't remember). Once the replacement is complete, the motor will turn a little longer than usual the first time you operate the parking brake since you pushed the piston/screw all the way back and it's re-calibrating itself. This will throw a one-time code. Just reset it and you're done.

Always an option, just need to buy the o-rings. Seems like its not that hard to do with the procedure to put them in replacement mode either. WIll have to give it a try one of these days. I have done similar procedures for work on other Lexus cars and although they are cumbersome they do work. I will probably just spend the $40 buy a techstream cable though since it will come in handy for other things as well.

Indeed. I already tried several cables and it always was a flop. And I tired even very old laptops, with old windows - still no go..
That machine in case does not look like "just a wire" to me. With unknown price tag and to be used twice in car ownership life.
I watched VW guy, he simply removed e brake module and did the job.
Well, someone will do it sooner than us. My pads are at 85% and I am easy driver.
