Hi,
On my NX200t has 41500 miles, Dealer suggesting to change the brake pads etc, they quoted $1050. this will be first time I am going to replace. them
What would be reasonable price for changing brake pad, liners and rotors?
what is avg life for brake pads ?

WHY? Is there any REAL reason to do the job, besides dealer wanting to make money? Like seriously - are pads down to wear indicators? Rotors having groves and other signs of wear in them?
At 41 000 miles only? I am not saying that that is not the case. I had to replace rear pads oin my Camry at 50 plus thousand, which is rather odd, as rears last longer than fronts.
Considering it's same parts as for RAV4, COMPLETE SET of rotors and pads for the car is $121 online. OK, cheap, too cheap for Lexus. PREMIUM slotted and drilled front rotors and pads is $160 online. StopTech, which is actually good quality, COMPLETE set for front and rear, slotted rotors - $198. I even looked up front end complete kit for NX - Stoptech, $270, drilled, if you really want to go fancy.
Takes 20 minutes per front end to replace pads and rotors. So that's 40 min. Takes about same, maybe a bit longer, to do rear end. 1.5 hour. That's $180 in labor.
One thousand fifty before tax dollars? Are they diamond clad or something?

You shouldn't have asked for the gold trimmed ones.

I checked my pads at 50k they have plenty left on them , I do a lot of highway driving. If you can look thru your wheel spokes you can see and measure how much pad there is left. Have you changed your brake fluid yet?

Lexus Fanatic
WOW WOW and WOW! My Toyota Corolla has more than 42K on them and the pads are still at 10mm for the front, 4mm for the rear drums. I don't think we have ever changed the rotors on our Matrix which is now at 105K. Have you ever done a brake service?

Had mine replaced at 42000 at Toyota dealership. 190 for front and 210 for rear. David did show me the pads and they needed to be replaced. They had front but had to get rear from Lexus.

Come over. Take stop watch. Bring "list of steps". Prove me wrong. 28 years DIY car work. I sorta know what I am saying.

And here I am, put to shame.
Nope, no can do rear brake pads. Without Techstream or going to dealer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As we have e brake and that requires placing brakes in service mode or literally taking entire e brake system apart.
They got us there...

Nope. Fancy tool is required:
When not Using the Techstream:
- Turn the engine switch off.
- Using SST, connect terminals 12 (TS) and 4 (CG) of the DLC3.SST:
09843-18040
NOTICE:
Do not connect the wrong terminals, as this will cause parts to be damaged.
