Default Changing cabin air filter

I did mine Sunday and there's really nothing to it
1. remove everything out from glove box
2. squeeze hard two tabs in glove box upper corners and it will drop down
3. Do NOT allow it to open all the way down. Look to the right bottom of it. There is plastic hydraulic cylinder controlling slow mo opening. Make sure you un clip it from glove box! Don't break it. Btw, mine is leaking already, at 30 000 miles. Whatever. I open it maybe 5 times a year.
4. now you can let glove box drop down completely, paying attention to it not to come off two hinges at its very lower bottom corner. It's cheap plastic clips, so just be mindful.
5. In the upper LEFT hand side of the opening, there is grey lid filter is in. Unclip it and open lid.
6. slide filter out, paying attention to which way direction arrow is pointing. Slide new filter back in. Clip lid in place.
7. start closing the box but, now you need to match hydraulic cylinder to its box notch. You have two notches, it is the UPPER one you place cylinder clip into.
8. squeeze tabs one more time and slide glove box in place.
9. if it does not operate right and sits crooked, it's one of the bottom box "hinges" that came off the rail.

FYI, the soft open mechanism isn't hydraulic. Toyota/Lexus use this spring/air cylinder to soft open all of their glove boxes, if you are seeing some oil/grease on the cylinder its just the lubrication grease that is loosely in the cylinder, there is only air pressure and it is not sealed. So rest assured its not broken.

Thanks for the information. Has anyone tried the K&N Cabin filter?

I’ve got one, I think I found it on sale at Walmart. I haven’t had it out since I initially installed it though.

Thank you, gompka. Air is fluid, so it's still a hydraulic cylinder. Good to know that it's not leaking oil.
I simply had carbon filter from Amazon,$8
Amazon Amazon
Btw, there are much better priced alternatives to K&N, Spektr is one of them. Half price same difference.
Here's one for my NX
Amazon Amazon
I have been around K&N for years, it's same difference if you ask me.
I am not sure there is any need for a high air flow filter for cabin?

Like the drop-in filter, the cabin filter is supposed to be reusable. Not sure if it's worth the $$$ and was wondering if anyone had experience with same.

Well, OEM cabin filter is clearly not. It's basic gauze filter.
