Default USB stick folders

Hi All,

i haven't found a topic about my problem so far, please help me:

I've a flash drive, couple of folders in the root and further subfolders under the main folders. The NX's infotainment system displays only the subfolders, the mains are not visible and it is very annoying. I was looking for some possibility to change to view mode, but no success.

Am i the only one who experienced this issue?

Regards: Norbert

I had similar issue. I fixed it by reformatting USB to FAT32 and thereafter, it started recognizing all folders. It may be hard to find a FAT 32 USB though, they moved away from this, but I bought one off Amazon, 126 Gb. I still had to re format it to FAT32 on my PC.

Thanks for your input, i'll try this, I have a 128GB stick as well formatted to FAT32 originally. I've got a little application which is able to format to "classic" FAT32, Windows 10 can only to exFAT. I'll let u know.

Yep. They moved away from FAT32 and NX is sorta stuck in olden times. My W 10 though do offer FAT32 option - but not on all USBs.

Likely music or other types of audio files. Doubt anything else will be read by infotainment.

Yup, i use only for mp3s and flacs. The infotainment does read both perfectly, my only issue is the folders-subfolders thing. However the stick has been reformatted to FAT32 again, the infotainment
is not able to handle the main folders. When i browse the stick's root, i can only see the subfolders.
NTFS probably not supported (i don't know why), but i'll give it a go.

Cool. I didn't realize we could do that. So, do I just make a playlist/sub folder with the mp3s or flacs?

Summary: NTFS didn't work, i haven't been surprised. FAT32 reformat didn't help either, i see only subfolders.

Any further idea?

Does it have to be in subfolders?
Otherwise, awkward it is, stream off the phone. You can then FFwrd or Rwnd. if you try to do it with NX system, you'll crash it. It's rather very buggy. trying to think... When I stream coans off my phone, They are in folders>subfolders. When I get to the right coan on the phone, I then can use SW controls, phone responds to them. I use jetAudio, OEM Samsung player sucks.

No, it's not so important. I can live without it, of course. But this is year 2018, and it is a Lexus, and I don't wish any complicated thing i guess.....
Streaming is a good solution (thanks for the hint), but i assume the folders and files will be rearranged on my USB sticks and life goes on.
If the problem will be resolved somehow, i'll let you know.

I had a flash drive with thousands of songs on it with hundreds of folders...it pretty muched crashed the entire lexus entertainment system....garbage. I dont think it even tried to read the flash drive entirely...maybe it can only read 8gb or something.

See, kirby, you just like I am. You buy with a lot of money something that is touted as luxury technologically advanced vehicle. Then you find that, besides liquid cooled turbo and gasoline direct injection, there is really nothing much advanced in it. Some safety features, sure, radar and such, if you paid for it. Yet, where it really comes to the luxury of driving, what is small pleasures of life that sweeten that long commute for you, you get a dud. You'd expect to get full worth for your buck.... but not so...
