Lexus Navigation quirks
So up until the last couple weeks the nav has been working great for my commute to and from work. It's mostly freeway and on the way to work the nav picks the typical route. However on the way home it suggests a bunch of different side roads. It's really strange because it would add 20 minutes to my drive. The 3 routes it suggests are strange. It seemly wants to avoid the main freeway I usually take. An alternate route wants me to go east to a different freeway. I need to go southwest. It's strange.
Any idea why it would pick a different route? I thought it might be due to traffic but that hasn't been the case.

What a surprise. Sounds like my 2007 Camry nav quirks..
Hold on. Did I just say - 2007? I did, right?
Just shaking my head. How long will it take to conclude to ditch OEM nav and use phone?

While you have a Point B selected and the route guidance is not paused...
Open the Nav. menu to Preferences and be certain that Highways and
Toll ways are selected. Some...mature...drivers might not want to be
directed to high speed routes so they can turn those preferences off
but most of us on CL will want them enabled. You can always choose
not to enter the Toll way that was suggested.
Your 2019 has Dynamic Navigation that incorporates what your phone knows
about traffic conditions to what the car knows, is your homeward bound
leg subject to heavier traffic? The phone may be telling you to avoid the
congested Highway and take congested surface streets instead.

I have highways checked as a preference. My commute in both directions is opposite rush hour. I generally have very little traffic. I really only use the Nav during the commute just in case there is traffic.
Its odd it would suggest I go east to a a different highway and then double back going west to my destination. It’s a head scratcher.
