Default What am I doing wrong NOW?

OK, '19 NX300. Have it for several months. No problems that I haven't gotten ironed out (mostly caused by my ignorance of modern technology), except for this--- When driving I set the driving mode to ECON.
OK, fine. Drove for months in that mode before I decided to give the SPORT mode a try. OK, fine. Decided it was a bit too hard on shifting, but VERY much more responsive than in ECON I decided it was too harsh for me so I went back to ECON. OK,fine.
NOW for the problem ---I can choose either of those modes any time, any where by using the dial on the "tranny tunnel". Whatever mode I shut down in is the mode that resumes the next time I start and drive the car. How ever, I realized recently there is a third option, NORMAL, which I find to be the best of the three. I just can't figure out how to select it so it remains on all the time. I can get that mode working by using the selector, but it switches back to ECON or SPORT almost immediately, on its own, without any input on my part. In fact, at that point the dial ONLY permits switching from or to ECON or Sport. The NORMAL mode is not even an option till I fiddle around randomly using the dial. know it has to be something basic that I'm not getting! What the heck am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated. I know I'm going to feel like a jerk when I get the answer, but right now I just want to understand how to choose any one of the modes without the car deciding to override my choice!
Thanks!!
Jay

To get to normal driving mode, just click down on the dial itself.

Tried that- doesn't do squat! I guess I'll have to see my friendly Lexus dealer soon! I need my first maintenance appointment anyway!

Thanks anyway

In order to get to normal mode all you have to do is treat the dial as a button and push down on it. The gauge display should turn dark in the background similar to how it turns red in sport mode and blue in economy mode.

I have a 2019 model as well and I found normal to be the best of three and have been using it for the past 5 months.

Try it again and see if it works, I cannot believe how difficult it can possibly be to go into normal mode. I've owned two IS350s prior to this and they all functions the same way.

I think it always reverts to normal mode on startup. If you have AVS (adaptive variable suspension) you can set a custom mode with sport shifting and normal suspension. Best of both worlds.

After car start, it reverts to either "Normal" or "Econ", whichever you used last time you drove it. "Sport" mode will not stay on and is canceled after re-start.

I think it's the same on all Lexus vehicles. You cannot start the car in sports mode, because the EPA calculates its MPG figures based on the least efficient mode you can start with, and allowing the car to start in Sports mode would decrease its EPA ratings. I suspect the OP has been starting in normal mode but thought he was in sports mode.
