I tried the downloaded file, but my car doesn't recognize it.

Apple CarPlay is only currently available on new, >2018, North American Lexus models. The rest of the World does not have AC - yet! Here in the UK we Lexus owners are forever hounding Lexus to get this sorted and release it along with Android Auto. Some trusted Lexus owners have advised that some Lexus Centres in the UK are testing the software on dealer cars prior to releasing it so I'm hopeful we will have it soon - and hopefully other countries too. I don't know how it will be rolled out, what it will cost, what, if any, hardware changes are required and what models are compatible. My wife's UK Mazda CX-3, for example, required a software update, a replacement USB module and new cables from the rear of the module to the rear of the touchscreen to receive AC and AA. This cost £350 and took about 2 hours to perform.

Thanks for your info. Do you think we can install the North American firmware into my car?

I’m sorry this isn’t necessarily helpful, but if I may speculate just a bit here. I did a firmware update on my 2019 ES this last weekend, and while there were two available updates, the car would only accept one of them. The second showed the same version as the one already loaded into the car, so it simply wouldn’t light up the button to perform the update. My point is that there is some sort of error-checking occurring in the car’s system to ensure it was a needed update. With that in mind, it would be my “GUESS” that the car won’t let you apply the update if it isn’t correct for your car.

Hopefully someone with actual knowledge of this can chime in and answer your question definitively. You could always put the update on a flash drive and see if it even lights up the “Install” button. If it remains grayed out, at least you know it definitely isn’t the right update for cars in your region.
