What’s weird about that list of sales is how far down it the Camry is. Didn’t that used to be the #1 selling car in America?

Crazy how far down it’s fallen.

Thank you sir. Interesting chart. Any idea why it excludes Ford, GM and FCA vehicles? Seems incomplete without the major domestic brands - for what it’s worth.

There are a lot of EV in the northeast as well, mostly within the major cities. A lot of company cars and young people who lives in condos with underground garage charging stations. Aside from that, most of the old houses in the Northeast do not have the electrical structure to support a EV fast charger, some houses don't even have a garage. These issues along with the long charging time and reduce range in cold weather are obstacles the EV industries have yet to overcome. Until these issues are resolve, I envision EV sales will soon level off or have slower gain, I think that most people who wanted a EV already has one by now and people who do not own a EV either have infrastructure issues or do not have a second family car with a gas engine.

Since the 2020 NX is in its 6th year, shouldn't the new model be 2021? I see where the NX will be built in Canada beginning in 2022 but could that just be a 2nd factory coming online? The RX is built both in Canada and Japan, with most coming from Canada. Also, since the 2020 came out the beginning of this year, I would expect a 2021 1st/2nd quarter of next year.

This is the information from the advisor at my dealership:

Next generation NX will arrive in the fall of 2021. It will feature a more sculpted exterior, available 20" wheels, Ice Cockpit, Next Generation Multimedia System, 14" Touchscreen, Cloud-based Navigation, Remote Parking Feature (linked with Smartphone), and 4 powertrains including a 2.5L Plug-in Hybrid with a 50km range.

Usually it's best to take the information that comes from a salesperson with a grain of salt but this information seems very detailed/specific and compatible with the recent announcement about the PHEV RAV4 coming in 2020.

It's a shame that we are still about 2 years away from the second generation as I was hoping it would arrive by mid 2020.

They are really stretching the first gen out. The timing will line up perfectly with my lease end date though. Hopefully it has better AWD. I'm not a fan of the current slip to grip system.

Sounds VERY detailed for something still in the making to be shown in 24 months....

I also hope/wish the rumour about an unveiling at NY motorshow in april 2020 is true and delivery in late fall 2020 as 2021 model...

I agree. Seems way too detailed for something that's not supposed to come out for 2 more years. Also, a dealership normally won't tell you a new model is right around the corner if you're on the fence about getting the current model or waiting a couple/few months for a new model. It would also coincide with a new RX which has been on a 6 year cycle. I can't see them bringing out new SUV's so close together.

I just got the 2020 NX. We weren’t necessarily looking for me to get a new car right now, but I have had my eye on the NX. Having also read they plan to change where these are made, that is partly what sped up our decision to buy now.

I wouldn’t be overly concerned about where it’s assembled. What really matters is the engineering of the parts and how they work together.

This does not mean that Lexus will build NX just in Canada from 2022. Most likely Lexus will release new-generation model in 2020 (MY 2021) that will be built in Japan and then in 2022 will add another production line in Canada for North America consumers.

Good point. I knew I liked the 2020 build so that was another reason we bought now.
