Redesigned Lexus NX in 2021?
#31
My next vehicle in 5 years will be an electric. I would love to get a NX or RX electric. If not, I might go for a Tesla. Right now the Tesla build quality is poor so I went in for the RX 450 It gives me 30.5 mpg average for local use. When it runs on the battery it is so quiet.

I think all electric for Lexus will be a long time. I am waiting for the 2022 NX plug-in hybrid that will basically be the 2021 plug-in RAV 4 in a Lexus covering. Over 300 horsepower, 42 mile range, heads up display etc. early reviews on the plug-in RAV 4 are excellent. At 42 mile electric range, I would use gas about 20% of the time. On long trips no need to charge and would be getting 40 mpg. At $2.00 a gallon for gas this is just as economical. Plus no way would I sell my Lexus #1 in reliability to buy #23 plus as you say all their quality issues.

I too am extremely curious about the plug-in NX, if such a vehicle actually comes to the US market. At this point, I believe it is only a rumor and comments from dealers and other speculators. The bigger concern I have is the price tag as the RAV 4 plug-in is about $10K higher than the standard hybrid. If the same pricing structure follows with an NX Plug-in, that would push the price beyond our comfort zone.

Ooh - now that does make it a more interesting proposition. I didn't realize there would be a credit. That just made me more interested in waiting. Thanks .... I think

I believe the RAV4 Prime will only come in the higher spec models, SE & SXE, starting just under 40k, which is why it is so much more than a 'base' hybrid. I would hazard a guess the NX version would start at +/- 50k, but would be fairly well equipped.

Having said that, no one of those vehicles are "based on" the other. They are all based on the TNGA-C platform/chassis.
