Touchscreen Lexus NX

According to Lexus USA general manager David Christ, Lexus will be getting rid of the remote touch controllers and replacing it with touch screens in their next gen.

What’s your best guess as to when the next gen NX might be for sale? The lease on my 2017 ends next September and I really hope they don’t carry the current gen over for another year.

As long as they move the screen closer to the driver, go for it. I don’t have an issue with the remote touch though.

Just speculation on my part but I would guess that the next gen NX won't come out until they move production to North America in 2022. But that would be basically 8 years of the current model in which time the competition keeps bringing out new stuff.

Pole Position
Since we are all just speculating at this point, I would actually speculate the 2021 model will be a new generation, based on the new Rav4. This would keep to the six year cycle and follows the new Toyota by a typical length of time for new Lexus designs. I would think we will hear more about their plans for the 2021 model by January or February. I just don't think their move to North American production will be the driver for the redesign. That was certainly not the case for the ES production move to Kentucky so there really isn't a precedent for that theory. Of course, we are all just guessing you will have to draw your own conclusions but Lexus normally has a six year production cycle for their "mainstream" models so I am doubtful they will break from that pattern.

Touch screen would be nice but it must be moved and the entire layout would need to drastically change. I'm not opposed to the touch pad honestly. It's far better than the stupid track mouse thing that Lexus was using...or still using for some unknown reason on the GS-F.
It would be awesome if the updated model had different engines.. IE: you could pick between a few choices. It still cracks me up that the F-sport doesn't get you more HP or a larger engine.
The article above speculated that perhaps a bump of 30hp would be done. That would be nice. Or if they offered a twin turbo 6 cylinder would be even better. I like the NX but it lacks so much power that it's disappointing in that regards, every other manufacture pretty much offers a higher HP output of their models or gives you a choice between engines/models.

I picked up my 2020 NX300h last night (Post October built) and the screen is not touchable. But it came with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and loving the Lexus Mobile Apps (3 years of free remote service from the app)
