Default Factory Tow Hitch Install

Hey guys,

Found this below:

https://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/p...032133387.html

I知 thinking of getting this, but wondering how hard it is to install myself. Anyone have experience with the factory hitch install? It looks more complicated than what I知 used to, but I think it痴 the only way to get the full 2000lb tow limit.

thoughts?

I have the factory service manual for installing it. 24 pages long, fairly involved and a lot of disassembly but nothing too difficult if you've worked on vehicles before.

The instructions are included with the kit, but I’m still on the fence. How long did the install take you?

Haven't done it myself on a Lexus...just have the directions. I've done tow hitches on other vehicles and it's usually a few hours, mostly because of how time consuming the wiring side is.

Of course this can be done with a skilled welder/fab guy, time, and money. I would assume that based off of the weight of the guard alone, the bracing would need to come off of the front frame rails and not just the core support. Cutting holes in the bumper cover would, I think, would have to be mandatory for the 2IS.

Give us updates along the way!

Just get a draw-tite/curt after market hitch. Just have to remove a few bolts and drop the exhaust, install hitch and done. I've been towing a scamp for 5+ years now with the draw-tite.

I had a local RV shop install a Curt hitch on my 2018 NX300. Not complicated. I've done hitches by myself on Lexus RX300 before.
