Lexus pro paint protection film worth it?
A lot of people dont recommend the dealership PPF, I've been told to go somewhere else where they install quality products like Xpel/3m and such. Anyone got any experience with lexus pro PPF from their dealership? is it worth it? my dealership is charging 1000$ for it.

No I haven't talk the details about it yet. did you ask them to use Xpel instead of the the default lexus PPF? and how much did you pay extra?

I have had both terrible results and excellent results from the dealer. The terrible results were from times they outsourced it (RX and 2015 ES) and so I had the next one done at an independent. When we bought our ES in June, the dealer indicated they had a sharp new in-house shop and only used the top grade LLumar film with a ten year warranty. They were correct. The price was competitive with our last independent job and everything looks perfect to my eye. So the moral of this story is that there is no sure way to know about a given dealer without getting references. Just by asking which product they use can tell you a lot as the better installers will use the higher grades of a given manufacturer’s product which these days typically carry a ten year warranty.
Personally, I am only familiar with the Xpel Ultimate and LLumar Platinum films, which are the highest grades for both of those manufacturers. I am not familiar with the 3M films but I imagine they also have a quality product.

I’m not too sure what product the dealer installed as both my Nx200t and CT200h are both purchased 2nd hand, however I have front 1/3 hood, fender, and mirrors wrapped with PPF and it’s holding up well and looks good.

That's just what they offered when I asked for PPF...I prefer just having the dealer do it so it's ready to go at delivery rather than taking it elsewhere. They were just under a grand for what I had done.

With a ten year warranty mentioned. Who's more likely to still be in business if you need to make a claim? The dealer or an independent installer. If the job is botched, who's more likely to redo it, no questions asked? Just another angle to consider.

I believe the dealer PPF is only a portion of the front end at least that was the only option they had when I got my NX, things might be different from dealer to dealer. But I'd recommend the whole front end, side mirrors, and A pillars, so you have complete coverage, plus you don't have that line running across your hood and fenders
In the end, it's all about who you trust more, dealer/independent, I've seen and experienced good and bad from both sides.
