Wireless Apple CarPlay add-on from CarPlay2Air - Anyone ?
Hi All,
I would like to make best use of my OEM QI Wireless charger AND use CarPlay at the same time, unfortunately, CarPlay requires a wired connection
I will always use a USB connection/QI Charger for the long drive with navigation to save the iPhone battery, but for short distances it would "cut the cord" if I can use CarPlay and keep the phone on me
Is there anyone here with Apple CarPlay using the device from CarPlay2Air in the link below to add wireless CarPlay in a NX or any other Lexus or any other car with OEM CarPlay functionalities ?
Reading the reviews and comments, satisfaction rates is as high at it could be and they seem to be very successful into adding this solution in almost any car with embedded CarPlay technology and a few aftermarket radios such as Pioneer or Alpine (Over 400 reviews and comments and all positive !)
I have ordered one and will keep you posted... If anyone has one, I'll appreciate your input
Anyone ?

There is an active discussion over in the 7th Gen ES subforum:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es-...rplay2air.html
While it is a different Lexus model, I would expect similar results as long as it is listed as a compatible vehicle.

The website just states “2019 and 2020 Lexus vehicles,” so any use outside of that is likely questionable. I would try to reach out to the company for verification. Having said that, the last post here indicated it was working on a 2018 model, so you might get lucky on a 2016.

No ! You need to have Apple CarPlay first.
This device doesn’t add CarPlay, This device connect to your existing CarPlay feature and add wireless capacity. As there is no 2016 Lexus with CarPlay capacities, it won’t work in your 2016 NX that doesn’t offer CarPlay.

I used that set up in my 2020 RX. I found the phone got too hot on an aftermarket charging pad and the CARPLAY2AIR was quirky. One thing was that the touchpad moved the map but not the cursor. I abandoned it and just use the wired version.

I was focused on the year of your NX and completely missed the fact that you had retrofitted it with CarPlay. This and the previous response from slypx clarifies which model years it will work "natively" with. Thanks.

Et voilà ! - Wireless CarPlay is working !
Hi All
Happy to report that I've just received the CarPlay2Air adapter and it works just as announced !!
Came in from China (took 16 days to get home in Canada). (If you want it faster, at checkout there is an option for faster delivery at minimal extra cost)
Got it going and configured in 5-10 mins and it just work like a charm.
Made the available over the air update once initial set up was over, it reboot itself and was back on with 30 seconds
Once programmed for the first time it is a permanent set up.
Next, every time you're getting in your car, the connection is automatic and takes between 25 to 30 seconds to established and you can forget about it afterward
Wireless CarPlay in the Lexus !! - Very useful for short distance drive
Also, if I need to charge my iPhone, I can now fully make use of the QI wireless charger
Steering wheel functions are all operational but with a 1 second delay for +/- skip song or play/pause buttons. No impact to the volume or mode buttons as these are operating the car system and not the iPhone
Great add-on !
FYI, this installation was done under iOS 13.3.1
After initial set up, the main thing I learned is, do NOT touch the screen or controls at all in the car. After the car turns on, just let it sit for a solid 20/35 seconds. Then, CarPlay will automatically appear.
All is good for now, if I fine issues, I'll report later
Updating ...
Used one of the USB ports in the center console
Blue LED confirming connection
Qi Wireless charger can now be use with CarPlay
Charging on the QI Wireless Charger
And listening to some blues !
