Default do I have to replace all 4 tires ?

hi everyone, my tires are at 40 000km , I got a unrepairable flat tire, rear passenger side.
Guy at Fountain tire says I really should replace all 4.
Friends say I don't and that he is ripping me off because I am a girl. I did a google search and it says AWD u gotta replace all 4, but the NX200t is not a true AWD ,AWD only engages sometimes correct ? Can I just replace the back two ?

sincerely , Miss know nothing about cars

In NX you can replace 2 tires as long as they are on the same axle. E.g., rear only, as in your case. In NX AWD kicks in only when front wheels start to slip. It is not permanent AWD, so you are OK.

Well it depends how long you had the tires on your car. 40,000km isn't that many, about 25k miles! Do you know your tread dept and the age of your tires? If your tires are at least six years old I would recommend replacing them, you can find the mfg date on the DOT number on the sidewall of the tire. Tires harden and lose grip and performance with age! If your tire has less than 4/32 tread wear it's time to replace them! You should replace all four! Replacing just two can affect the performance of your NX, stopping distance for example. It's your decision!

Hi, I don't know the tread depth , its a 2017 so almost the tires are 5 years old ? Yeah I was supprised to hear the shop guy say that my tires are nearing the end of their life too ! although they are the stock Geolanders and they've gotten some terrible reviews online so not complete impossible. does measuring tread depth with a coin work ?

what all season mid range tires do u guys suggest ?

The above link shows you how to check tread depth with a coin. We replaced our tires at 37K miles with Michelin primacy MXM 4 tires. They are very good but a little pricy.
