Default 18 NX radio freezes

We have a NX issue where our radio will freeze the volume and you can not do anything after that. We did make a speaker upgrade through Crutchfield with the Rockford Fosgate speakers changing out the dash corners, front door and rear door (minus rear door tweets). This was a super simple install and yes the dash corners had a four wire plug and crutchfield said cut all, rewire the pos and neg and your good. I have noticed with the better speakers we will have to use more volume so I see the sound reaching up into the 50's pretty easy if your playing loud. Max on this head unit is 60. Is our radio getting overheated somehow pushing these new speakers. Crutchfield said these speakers are perfect replacments 8ohms so they match what we had. Im lost. Any help would be appreciated greatly.

According to the Lexus 2018-2019 NX300 technical data, original factory door and dash corner speakers are 4 Ohms. If you replaced them with 8 Ohm speakers, that explains why a higher volume setting is now required to obtain similar perceived loudness. The good news is the internal amplifiers are actually working less hard, because they can only supply half the peak power to the higher impedance speakers during loud passages. So I doubt if overheating due to a higher volume setting is the cause.

Can you elaborate on the terms "freeze the volume" and "can not do anything"? Does the system recover by itself after awhile, or by cycling it off and then back on?
Today's OEM car audio amplifiers use power Integrated circuits with built-in fault protection. What could be happening is one of the speaker wires or terminals may be making contact to ground, or the 2 speaker wires contacting each other, both of which will result in a fault condition. This could even be occurring within one of the new speakers.

When Crutchfield says "exact replacements", they mean the physical dimensions match.

These speakers are 4Ohms like the factory speakers. This is what was suggested to upgrade factory speakers and give a little more bass sound and clarity.

What I mean by freeze is the head unit will not allow you to turn up or down the volume it sticks on the last setting and everything is silent/no sound at all. Cant change source or input. We have to turn the car off and restart to get it back.

The Rockford Fosgate web site has specifications for these speakers and confirms they are indeed 4 Ohms. Evidently they have lower acoustic efficiency relative to the OEM speakers, so more power is required to achieve the same loudness.
If you intentionally reduce volume level, does that prevent "freezing" from occurring? If yes, it tends to support the hypothesis that amplifier overheating at higher power levels is the cause.
